Abstract

Oil palm is one of the plantation crop commodities that has an important role in Indonesia’s economic activities as a producer of vegetable oil, so efforts are needed so that oil palm production remains stable and increases. One of them is by paying attention to cultivation techniques that begin with the nursery process, especially in the main nursery phase with the use of oil palm empty fruit bunch compost as an organic fertilizer to restore soil fertility through improving soil properties both physical, chemical and biological properties, accelerating and facilitating the absorption of nitrogen elements by plants and can be obtained easily and at low proces. This research was an experimental study conducted from November 2023 to February 2024, at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Cikuya Village, Sindangsari Village, Pabuaran District, Serang Regency, Banten Province. The experimental design used in the study was Factorial Randomized Group Design (RGD), which consisted of two factors, namely oil palm empty fruit bunch compost (K) and oil palm seedling age (B). The first factor is oil palm empty fruit bunch compost (K) which consists of three levels, namely doses of 200 g/polybag (K1), 270 g/polybag (K2), and 340 g/polybag (K3). The second factor is the age of oil palm seedlings aged 9 months (B1), 12 months (B2), and 15 months (B3). The results showed that there was an interaction between oil palm empty fruit bunch compost and several ages of oil palm seedlings on oil palm plant growth. Oil palm empty fruit bunch compost at 12 weeks of planting gave the best effect on plant height, number of fronds, stem base diameter, and leaf greenness at the 340 g/polybag dosage level. While the age of seedlings gives a very real influence with different growth characteristics and sensitvity.

Additional Information: Kelapa sawit merupakan salah satu komoditas tanaman perkebunan yang memiliki peran penting dalam kegiatan perekonomian Indonesia sebagai penghasil minyak nabati, sehingga diperlukan upaya agar produksi kelapa sawit tetap stabil dan meningkat. Salah satunya dengan cara memperhatikan teknik budidaya yang diawali dengan proses pembibitan khususnya pada fase main nursery dengan pemanfaatan kompos tandan kosong kelapa sawit sebagai pupuk organik untuk mengembalikan kesuburan tanah melalui perbaikan sifat-sifat tanah baik sifat fisik, kimiawi maupun biologis, mempercepat dan mempermudah penyerapan unsur nitrogen oleh tanaman serta dapat diperoleh dengan mudah dan harga yang murah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2023 sampai dengan bulan Februari 2024, bertempat di Lahan Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, Kampung Cikuya, Desa Sindangsari, Kecamatan Pabuaran, Kabupaten Serang, Provinsi Banten. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan pada penelitian adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Faktorial, yang terdiri dari dua faktor, yaitu kompos tandan kosong kelapa sawit (K) dan usia bibit kelapa sawit (B). Faktor pertama yaitu kompos tandan kosong kelapa sawit (K) yang terdiri dari tiga taraf, yaitu dosis 200 g/polybag (K1), 270 g/polybag (K2), dan 340 g/polybag (K3). Sedangkan faktor kedua, yaitu usia bibit kelapa sawit berumur 9 bulan (B1), 12 bulan (B2), dan 15 bulan (B3). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat interaksi antara kompos tandan kosong kelapa sawit dengan beberapa usia bibit kelapa sawit terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman kelapa sawit. Kompos tandan kosong kelapa sawit pada 12 MST memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah pelepah, diameter pangkal batang, dan kehijauan daun pada taraf dosis 340 g/polybag. Sedangkan usia bibit memberikan pengaruh sangat nyata dengan karakteristik pertumbuhan dan sensitivitas yang berbeda-beda.
