Abstract
This research aims to conduct a study of the typical batik motifs of Pandeglang Regency which consists of 35 batik motifs using an ethnolinguistic approach. This research focuses on examining the lexicon for naming batik based on grammatical review, the cultural meaning of batik, and public perceptions of the typical batik motifs of Pandeglang Regency. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of listening methods and skill methods. The data analysis technique used is the matching method with an advanced technique in the form of the contrast comparison technique (HBB). The results of the research show that there is a language pattern used by the people of Pandeglang Regency in the form of the use of words used to accompany certain lexicons. The cultural meaning of each motif is influenced by the ways of life, beliefs and traditions that surround society. This research also highlights community perceptions based on ownership, interest and knowledge with a total of 15 samples from five sub-districts in Pandeglang. The results of the questionnaire stated that the majority of respondents did not know the various Pandeglang batik motifs, did not know the background to the birth of batik, but had an awareness of the function of batik as a regional identity.
