Abstract

In the world of education, technology significantly influences scientific knowledge, where students are taught about natural phenomena and facts using technology as its application. This research aims to determine the impact of using PhET simulation virtual laboratories as an ICT-based science learning media on the science process skills of seventh-grade students regarding Newton's Laws. The study was conducted at Junior High School 1 Pasarkemis, Tangerang Regency, in the academic year 2023/2024, in March 2024. The research method used was a quasy-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Data collection was carried out with research subjects consisting of two classes, class VII 1 as the experimental class and class VII 2 as the control class, each with 39 students, selected using cluster sampling techniques. The instruments used in the study were tests (pretest and posttest questions) in the form of multiple-choice and essay questions, and non-test instruments (observation sheets and student response questionnaires) using a rating scale. The science process skills aspects used in this study were observation, prediction, data interpretation, experimentation, classification, and communication. The results obtained, based on hypothesis testing calculations and analysis, had a significance level of 0.001, meaning it was less than 0.05. Therefore, H0 was rejected, and H1 was accepted. There was a high increase in test scores, with pretest scores of 55.92 and posttest scores of 71.36, as well as non-test scores, with observation sheet scores increasing from 63.33 to 81.61 and questionnaire scores at 3.08. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of PhET simulation virtual laboratories on Newton's Laws as an ICT-based science learning media has an influence on the science process skills of seventh-grade students..

Additional Information: Dalam dunia pendidikan teknologi sangat mempengaruhi ilmu pengetahuan dimana siswa akan diajarkan tentang suatu gejala dan fakta alam dengan menggunakan teknologi sebagai penerapannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh penggunaan laboratorium virtual PhET simulation sebagai media pembelajaran IPA berbasis ICT terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa kelas VII pada Hukum Newton. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Pasarkemis Kabupaten Tangerang Tahun ajaran 2023/2024 pada Maret 2024. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu quasi eskperimen dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Proses pengambilan data dilakukan dengan subjek penelitian yang terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu kelas VII 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII 2 sebagai kelas kontrol dengan masing – masing kelas berjumlah 39 siswa dan diambil dengan menggunakan teknik cluster sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian yaitu berupa tes (soal pretest dan postest) dalam bentuk soal pilihan ganda serta essay dan non-tes (lembar observasi dan angket respon siswa) dengan menggunakan rating scale. Aspek keterampilan proses sains yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu mengamati, memprediksi, menginterpertasikan data, melakukan percobaan, mengklasifikasikan dan mengkomunikasikan. Hasil yang didapatkan yaitu berdasarkan hasil perhitungan dan analisis uji hipotesis memiliki taraf signifikansinya 0,001 yang artinya lebih kecil dari 0,05 maka H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima dan tingginya peningkatan nilai tes berupa soal pretest 55,92 dan postest 71,36 serta nilai non-tes yang berupa lembar observasi 63,33 menjadi 81,61 dan lembar angket sebesar 3,08. Maka dapat disimpulkan terdapat pengaruh penggunaan laboratorium virtual PhET simulation pada Hukum Newton sebagai media pembelajaran IPA berbasis ICT terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa kelas VII.
