Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of mathematical critical thinking skills and self-regulated learning in mathematics learning. However, in reality, students' mathematical critical thinking skills and self-regulated learning were still low. One of the factors influencing this was the use of inappropriate teaching models. Therefore, a teaching model that could enhance these skills was needed. As an alternative, the GeoGebra-Assisted Discovery Learning model was believed to be able to improve students' mathematical critical thinking skills and self-regulated learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the achievement and improvement of mathematical critical thinking skills, as well as the achievement and improvement of self-regulated learning in students who received the GeoGebra-Assisted Discovery Learning model compared to those who received conventional teaching models. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 8 Kota Serang in the 2023/2024 academic year. The research method was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent pre-test post-test control group design. The sampling was done using purposive sampling techniques. The instruments in this study consisted of a mathematical critical thinking skills test and a self-regulated learning scale. The results showed that: 1) the achievement of mathematical critical thinking skills of students who received the GeoGebra-Assisted Discovery Learning model was better than that of students who received conventional teaching models, 2) the improvement of mathematical critical thinking skills of students who received the GeoGebra-Assisted Discovery Learning model was better than that of students who received conventional teaching models, 3) the achievement of self-regulated learning of students who received the GeoGebra-Assisted Discovery Learning model was better than that of students who received conventional teaching models, and 4) the improvement of self-regulated learning of students who received the GeoGebra-Assisted Discovery Learning model was better than that of students who received conventional teaching models.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dan kemandirian belajar dalam pembelajaran matematika. Namun, kenyataannya, kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dan kemandiran belajar siswa masih rendah. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi hal tersebut adalah penggunaan model pembelajaran yang kurang tepat. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan model pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan tersebut. Sebagai alternatif, model Discovery Learning berbantuan GeoGebra diyakini mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dan kemandirian belajar siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis serta mengetahui pencapaian dan peningkatan kemandirian belajar siswa yang memperoleh model Discovery Learning berbantuan GeoGebra dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 8 Kota Serang pada tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Metode penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian the nonequivalent pre-test post-test control group design. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari tes kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dan skala kemandirian belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) pencapaian kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa yang memperoleh model Discovery Learning berbantuan GeoGebra lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran konvensional, 2) peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa yang memperoleh model Discovery Learning berbantuan GeoGebra lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran konvensional, 3) pencapaian kemandirian belajar siswa yang memperoleh model Discovery Learning berbantuan GeoGebra lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran konvensional, dan 4) peningkatan kemandirian belajar siswa yang memperoleh model Discovery Learning berbantuan GeoGebra lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran konvensional.
