Abstract

Mathematics is a form of culture that is integrated into various aspects of life in society through mathematical activities. Often students are not aware that mathematics is in life around us. Ethnomathematics exists to bridge culture, mathematics and education. This research aims to find out the ethnomathematics of the Tangerang Bamboo Hat which is the local wisdom of the Tangerang area and its relationship with mathematical concepts in schools. The research design used is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. The techniques used to collect data in this research were interviews, observation and documentation. The research was conducted on craftsmen in the Cikupa area who are under the Tangerang Bamboo Topi Community. The findings of this research are in the form of fundamental mathematical activities that Bishop explained in the process of making Bamboo Hats. These include explaining, calculating, measuring and designing. There is also traditional mathematics used by craftsmen in the form of traditional units of measurement including spans, cubits, fathoms and steps. The shape of a bamboo hat can also be used as an example as a concrete form of the concept of spatial shapes and flat shapes in mathematics at school. Additional Information: Matematika merupakan suatu bentuk budaya yang diintegrasikan ke dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan yang ada di masyarakat melalui aktivitas matematika. Seringkali siswa tidak sadar bahwa matematika ada di kehidupan sekitar kita. Etnomatematika hadir untuk menjembatani budaya, matematika, dan pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui etnomatematika pada Topi Bambu Tangerang yang menjadi kearifan lokal daerah Tangerang dan hubungannya dengan konsep matematika di sekolah. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Teknik yang digunakan untuk mengmpulkan data dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara, obervasi, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian dilakukan pada pengrajin di daerah Cikupa yang berada dibawah Komunitas Topi Bambu Tangerang. Temuan hasil penelitian ini berupa adanya aktivitas fundamental matematika yang dipaparkan Bishop pada proses pembuatan Topi Bambu. Diantaranya menjelaskan, menghitung, mengukur, dan mendesain. Terdapat pula matematika tradisional yang digunakan pengrajin berupa satuan ukur trasidional diantaranya jengkal, hasta, depa, dan langkah. Bentuk topi bambu juga dapat dijadikan contoh sebagai bentuk konkrit konsep bangun ruang dan bangun datar pada matematika di sekolah.
