Abstract

SULASTRI (2017). The Effectiveness of Brain Based Learning Toward Problem Solving Skills and Students Anxiety of mathematic at Junior High School. Research Department of Mathematics Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Serang 2017. The main objective of this research is to find out whether the achievement and improvement of problem solving ability of mathematical students who are given the approach of learning based on brain learning is better than the students who are given the usual learning model and whether mathematical anxiety and mathematical anxiety of the students who are given the approach of learning of brain based learning is lower and More than students who were given the usual learning model. The study was conducted using quasi-experimental method. The design used is non equivalent control group design. The population in this study is all students of class VII SMP Negeri 1 Waringinkurung academic year 2016/2017. Sampling using purposive sampling technique by taking two classes based on mathematics teacher considerations. One class as an experimental class with Brain Based Learning approach and one class as a control class with ordinary learning model. The instruments used were mathematical problem solving skills test and non-test mathematical anxiety scale. The results of the study concluded that: (1) The final achievement of mathematical problem solving skills of students who are given a better brain based learning approach than students who are given the usual learning model, (2) Improved mathematical problem solving skills of students who were given a better brain based learning approach than students who were given ordinary learning model, (3) Mathematical anxiety of students who were given a lower learning-based brain approach than students who were given the usual learning model, and (4) Declining mathematical anxiety of students who were given a more brain based learning approach than students who were given the usual learning model.

Tujuan utama penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang diberi pendekatan pembelajaran brain based learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang diberi model pembelajaran biasa dan apakah kecemasan matematis dan penurunan kecemasan matematis siswa yang diberi pendekatan pembelajaran brain based learning lebih rendah dan lebih banyak daripada siswa yang diberi model pembelajaran biasa. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen. Desain yang digunakan yaitu non equivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Waringinkurung tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan mengambil dua kelas berdasarkan pertimbangan guru mata pelajaran matematika. Satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan pendekatan pembelajaran Brain Based Learning dan satu kelas sebagai kelas kontrol yang dengan model pembelajaran biasa. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan non-tes skala kecemasan matematis. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa: (1) Pencapaian akhir kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang diberi pendekatan brain based learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang diberi model pembelajaran biasa, (2) Peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang diberi pendekatan brain based learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang diberi model pembelajaran biasa, (3) Kecemasan matematis siswa yang diberi pendekatan brain based learning lebih rendah daripada siswa yang diberi model pembelajaran biasa, dan (4) Penurunan kecemasan matematis siswa yang diberi pendekatan brain based learning lebih banyak daripada siswa yang diberi model pembelajaran biasa.
