Abstract

Skipjack tuna is one of the resource commodities utilized in Binuangeun Waters. The utilization of skipjack tuna must be conducted by prioritizing its sustainability aspects. Uncontrolled skipjack tuna fishing can have a negative impact on population sustainability and a decrease in stock. In order to utilize the potential of skipjack tuna in a sustainable manner, the control fishing effort using maximum sustainable yield (MSY) is crucial. The survey method is through observation conducted from November to December 2023. The results showed the lowest CPUE was 0.3210 tons/trip, and the highest CPUE was 0.8929 tons/trip. The MSY of skipjack tuna is 1,759 tons/year, and Fopt is 4,320 trips/year. Moreover, the utilization of skipjack tuna is closed to overfishing.
