Abstract
Biodiesel is a type of fuel derived from vegetable oil with properties similar to diesel oil or diesel fuel. The purpose of this research is to make biodiesel made from used cooking oil using a circulating reactor tank and analyze the biodiesel in accordance with general biodiesel standards. The process of making biodiesel is carried out using a circulating reactor tank at a temperature of 65°C. The stages of the biodiesel making process are used cooking oil purification, catalyst and methoxid solution preparation, transesterification process, biodiesel washing, and biodiesel analysis. The biodiesel was analyzed for physical-chemical properties including density, viscosity, moisture content, free fatty acid (FFA) content, yield, and flash point. The biodiesel samples produced were declared to meet the parameter specifications of the Indonesian National Standard. From the research results, the density test values were obtained in the range of 860-890 kg/m3. The viscosity test value obtained ranged from 2.43-2.59 cSt. The water content test value obtained ranged from 0.02-0.04%. The free fatty acid (FFA) content test value obtained ranged from 0.23-0.30%. The biodiesel yield percentage test value ranged from 97-98%. The flash point test value ranged from 136-168°C.

Additional Information: | Biodiesel merupakan salah satu jenis bahan bakar yang berasal dari minyak nabati dengan sifat menyerupai minyak diesel atau solar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah membuat biodiesel berbahan dasar minyak jelantah menggunakan tangki reaktor bersirkulasi dan melakukan analisa terhadap biodiesel sesuai dengan standar umum biodiesel. Proses pembuatan biodiesel dilakukan menggunakan tangki reaktor bersirkulasi pada suhu 65°C. Tahapan proses pembuatan biodiesel yang dilakukan yakni pemurnian minyak jelantah, preparasi katalis dan larutan metoksid, proses transesterifikasi, pencucian biodiesel, dan analisis biodiesel. Hasil biodiesel kemudian dianalisis sifat fisik-kimianya yang meliputi analisis densitas, viskositas, kadar air, kadar asam lemak bebas (FFA), yield, dan titik nyala (flash point). Sampel biodiesel yang dihasilkan dinyatakan memenuhi spesifikasi parameter yang telah ditetapkan yakni Standar Nasional Indonesia. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh nilai uji densitas berkisar pada 860-890 kg/m3. Nilai uji viskositas yang diperoleh berkisar pada 2,43-2,59 cSt. Nilai uji kadar air diperoleh berkisar pada 0,02-0,04%. Nilai uji kadar asam lemak bebas (FFA) diperoleh berkisar pada 0,23-0,30%.
