Abstract
This research was motivated by students' misconceptions regarding thermochemical material. This research aims to determine the validity and reliability of the Four-Tier Instrument and to determine the level of students' conception regarding concepts on thermochemical materials. This research uses the ADDIE development model. At the analysis stage, researchers analyze concepts, conduct literature reviews, and create concept maps. At the design stage, thermochemical materials are determined and competency achievement indicators are determined based on KD K13. At the development stage, 40 questions were created for the four-tier instrument, which were then validated by 7 experts, resulting in 20 valid questions with several revisions, then revised the questions. At the implementation stage, namely conducting field trials using a four tier diagnostic test instrument. Evaluation stage, testing the level of validity and reliability of the questions. A total of 20 valid questions were then tested. The results obtained were that 59% of students stated that they understood the concept, 26% of students stated that they had misconceptions and 15% of students stated that they did not understand the concept.
