Abstract
The aim of this research is to determine the effect of independent learning on the mathematical problem solving abilities of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 17 Kota Serang. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 17 Kota Serang class VIII. The research subjects consisted of sixty class VIII students who were chosen randomly. This research uses a quantitative type of research. The instruments used in this research were a written mathematical problem solving test consisting of five description questions and a learning independence questionnaire consisting of twenty-five statements. The data analysis used is the linearity test, regression significance test, and simple regression. The results of this research indicate that learning independence has a positive influence of students’ mathematical problem solving abilities and the value of the coefficient of determination shows the magnitude of the influence between independent learning on students’ mathematical problem solving abilities, namely 0,171 this means that the amount of contribution of independent learning influencing the mathematical problem solving abilities of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 17 Serang City is 17.1%, the remaining 82.9% is influenced by other factors outside of independent learning such as students' initial abilities, students' emotions, and the social environment around students.

Additional Information: | Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui pengaruh kemandirian belajar terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 17 Kota Serang. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 17 Kota Serang kelas VIII, dengan subjek penelitian terdiri dari 60 siswa kelas VIII yang dipilih secara acak. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu tes tertulis pemecahan masalah matematis yang terdiri dari lima soal uraian dan angket kemandirian belajar yang terdiri dari dua puluh lima pernyataan. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji linearitas, uji keberartian regresi, dan regresi sederhana. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemandirian belajar memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dan besaran nilai koefisien determinasi menunjukkan besarnya pengaruh antara kemandirian belajar terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yaitu 0,171 artinya besaran kontribusi kemandirian belajar mempengaruhi kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 17 Kota Serang sebesar 17,1% sisanya 82,9% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain diluar kemandirian belajar seperti kemampuan awal siswa, emosional siswa, serta lingkungan sosial disekitar siswa. | |||||||||
