Abstract

Background One of the problems that occur in the textile industry is the symptoms of respiratory distress. Dust is a solid particle with a size of 1 μm to 100 μm. The type of cotton used in the textile industry contains natural fibers derived from plants, such as cotton. While synthetic fibers are derived from petroleum-based resources such as polyester. Typical symptoms due to exposure to cotton dust are chronic cough with or without phlegm, pain of breath, wheezing, nasal congestion and chest pain. The disease caused by cotton dust is byssinosis. This lung disease is common in workers in the textile industry. byssinosis is pneumoconiosis which is a collection of respiratory symptoms caused by exposure to non-synthetic raw textiles during the manufacturing process Method The method used was a cross-sectional study with a total of 76 respondents. The ATS-DLD-78-A questionnaire was used for data collection. Result The results of the study found that 21.1% of workers had symptoms of respiratory problems. 43.4% of workers were exposed to high exposure and 69.7% of workers had a working period of > 5 years. Analysis of Chi-square test results showed a relationship between cotton dust exposure and respiratory symptoms (p value <0.001; OR 15.1 (3.17 – 73.21). Workers with high cotton dust exposure were 15.1 times the risk factor for respiratory distress symptoms compared with low cotton dust exposure. Conclusion There was a relationship between cotton dust exposure and respiratory symptoms (p value <0.001; OR 15.1 (3.17 – 73.21).

Additional Information: Latar Belakang Salah satu masalah yang terjadi pada industri tekstil adalah gejala gangguan pernapasan. Debu merupakan partikel yang padat dengan ukuran 1 μm hingga 100 μm. Jenis kapas yang digunakan pada industri tekstil terdapat serat alami yang berasal dari tumbuhan, seperti kapas. Sedangkan serat sintetis yang berasal dari sumber daya berbasis minyak bumi seperti poliester. Gejala khas akibat paparan debu kapas adalah batuk kronis dengan atau tanpa dahak, nyeri napas, mengi, hidung tersumbat dan nyeri pada dada. Penyakit yang disebabkan oleh debu kapas adalah Bisinosis. Penyakit paru ini umum terjadi pada pekerja di industri tekstil. Bisinosis merupakan pneumokoniosis yang merupakan kumpulan gejala pernapasan yang disebabkan oleh paparan tekstil mentah non-sintetis selama proses pembuatannya Metode Metode yang digunakan adalah studi potong lintang dengan jumlah 76 responden. Kuesioner ATS-DLD-78-A digunakan untuk pengumpulan data. Hasil Hasil penelitian mendapatkan 21.1% orang para pekerja memiliki gejala gangguan pernapasan. 43.4% pekerja terpajan dengan pajanan tinggi dan sebanyak 69.7% pekerja memiliki masa kerja > 5 tahun. Analisis hasil uji Chi-square menunjukkan terdapat hubungan pajanan debu kapas dengan gejala gangguan pernapasan (Nilai p <0.001; OR 15.1 (3.17 – 73.21). Pekerja dengan pajanan debu kapas tinggi merupakan faktor risiko sebesar 15.1 kali terhadap gejala gangguan pernapasan dibandingkan dengan pajan debu kapas rendah. Kesimpulan Terdapat hubungan pajanan debu kapas dengan gejala gangguan pernapasan (Nilai p <0.001; OR 15.1 (3.17 – 73.21).
