Abstract

Introduction Musculoskeletal disorders are one of the largest disease burden globally (GBD 2020) and are one of the most common health problems in the occupational group, including school teachers. Musculoskeletal disorders occur due to various factors that can have an impact on worker productivity in the workplace. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship of standing duration while teaching to the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders in primary school teachers in Serang City. Method This research is an observational analytic study using a cross-sectional study design to determine the relationship between standing duration and the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders. Sampling was done through a multistage random sampling approach with a total sample size of 110 people. The research subjects were elementary school teachers in Serang City who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection was carried out using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire which was administered independently by the respondents. Data analysis used the Chi-square statistical test through the IBM SPSS application, with a significance limit of p < 0.05. Result In this study, 41 (37.3%) teachers standing for >1 hour while teaching, and 36 (79.1%) of them had musculoskeletal disorders. There is no significant relationship between standing duration while teaching and the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders (p = 0.083) in elementary school teachers in Serang City. Conclusion Most of the elementary school teachers in Serang City have musculoskeletal disorders. Based on the results of statistical analysis, there is no significant relationship between standing duration while teaching and the high incidence of musculoskeletal disorders in primary school teachers in Serang City.

Additional Information: Latar Belakang Gangguan muskuloskeletal merupakan salah satu beban penyakit yang tinggi secara global (GBD 2020) dan menjadi salah satu masalah kesehatan yang paling umum terjadi pada populasi kerja, termasuk salah satunya yaitu pada guru sekolah. Gangguan muskuloskeletal terjadi oleh berbagai faktor yang dapat berdampak pada produktivitas pekerja di tempat kerja. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan lama berdiri saat mengajar terhadap kejadian gangguan muskuloskeletal pada guru sekolah dasar di Kota Serang. Metode Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik observasional menggunakan desain studi cross-sectional untuk mengetahui hubungan lama berdiri saat mengajar terhadap kejadian gangguan muskuloskeletal. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan melalui pendekatan multistage random sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebesar 110 orang. Subjek penelitian merupakan guru sekolah dasar di Kota Serang yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Pengambilan data dilakukan menggunakan instrumen kuesioner Nordic Body Map (NBM) yang diisi oleh responden secara mandiri. Analisis data menggunakan uji statistik Chi-square melalui aplikasi IBM SPSS dengan batas signifikansi p <0,05. Hasil Pada penelitian ini tercatat sebanyak 41 (37,3%) guru berdiri >1 jam saat mengajar dan 36 (79,1%) diantaranya memiliki gangguan muskuloskeletal. Tidak terdapat hubungan signifikan antara lama berdiri saat mengajar terhadap kejadian gangguan muskuloskeletal (p = 0,083) pada guru sekolah dasar di Kota Serang. Kesimpulan Sebagian besar guru sekolah dasar di Kota Serang memiliki gangguan muskuloskeletal, namun berdasarkan hasil analisis statistik tidak didapatkan hubungan yang signifikan antara lama berdiri saat mengajar terhadap tingginya angka kejadian gangguan muskuloskeletal pada guru sekolah dasar di Kota Serang.
