Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mathematical critical thinking abilities in terms of the Myers-Briggs personality type and group by Keirsey. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The sample for this study was taken based on purposive sampling and stratified sampling techniques. Data was collected by test and interview methods. This study classifies students into four groups of personality types, namely: 1) Rational, 2) Guardian, 3) Idealist, and 4) Artisan. There are 4 (four) indicators of achieving critical thinking skills used in this study. 1) Interpretation, students are able to understand the information and core problems in the questions. 2) Analysis, identifying the relationship between questions, statements, mathematical concepts and answers to the questions given. 3) Evaluation, being able to find the truth value of the statement on the problem, and 4) Inference, being able to draw conclusions assuming logically acceptable reasons. The results of this study indicate that students' ability to think critically varies greatly in each personality type group they have. Although there are still personality types that have not reached the four indicators of critical thinking ability. The author hopes that the results of this research can be used as material for teacher consideration in carrying out the learning process in class and in determining learning methods and teaching materials that are expected to be able to improve students' mathematical critical thinking skills.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa yang ditinjau dari tipe kepribadian Myers-Briggs yang dikelompokan berdasarkan Keirsey. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Sampel untuk penelitian ini diambil berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling dan stratified sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode tes dan wawancara. Penelitian ini mengklasifikasikan siswa ke dalam empat kelompok tipe kepribadian, yaitu: 1) Rasional, 2) Guardian, 3) Idealist, dan 4) Artisan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam berpikir kritis sangat bervariatif pada setiap kelompok tipe kepribadian yang dimiliki. Walaupun masih terdapat tipe kepribadian yang belum mencapai ke empat indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis. Kemampuan berpikir kritis kelompok Rational sudah mampu mencapai ke empat (interpretasi, analisis, evaluasi, inferensi) indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan sangat baik. Kelompok Rational sudah mampu menyelesaikan permasalahan sampai dengan menarik kesimpulan dengan asumsi yang dapat diterima. Kemampuan berpikir kritis kelompok Guardian sudah mampu mencapai tiga (interpretasi, evaluasi, inferensi) indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan cukup baik. Kemampuan berpikir kritis kelompok Idealist sudah mampu mencapai tiga (interpretasi, evaluasi, inferensi) indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan baik. Artisan sudah mampu mencapai tiga (interpretasi, analisis, inferensi) indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan baik.
