Abstract

The objectives of this research were to (1) find out the students’ needs in learning report text at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kota Serang, (2) to find out how to develop an interactive multimedia of report text, and (3) to find out the appropriateness of interactive multimedia for teaching report text at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kota Serang. This research adapted the Research and Development (R&D) design from Borg and Gall (1983). It consists of (1) research and information collecting, (2) planning, (3) develop preliminary form of product, (4) preliminary field testing, (5) main product revision, (6) main field testing, (7) operational product revision. This research involved an eleventh grade English teacher and XI Social 3 students of SMAN 1 Kota Serang. The research instruments used the students’ open-ended questionnaires, semi-structured interview, students’ assessment sheets, material, and media experts’ validation forms. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Data analysis showed that the students and the English teacher needed an interactive multimedia. Moreover, interactive multimedia of report text (IMPORT) obtained the percentage scores of 96% in preliminary field testing and 100% in main field testing from the material and media experts. Furthermore IMPORT obtained percentage scores of 82,56% in preliminary field testing and 89,2% in main field testing from the students. Those results showed that IMPORT was categorized into “Valid” criteria and it was appropriate to be used for teaching report text at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kota Serang. Therefore, it can be concluded that IMPORT based web can be applied to create the enjoyable teaching-learning report text.

Additional Information: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengetahui kebutuhan siswa/i dalam pembelajaran teks report, (2) untuk mengetahui cara mengembangkan multimedia interaktif teks report, dan (3) untuk mengetahui kesesuaian multimedia interaktif pada pengajaran teks report di kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Kota Serang. Desain penelitian ini mengadaptasi penelitian & pengembangan (R&D) dari Borg dan Gall (1983), terdiri dari (1) pengumpulan informasi penelitian, (2) perencanaan, (3) pengembangan produk awal , (4) uji coba skala kecil, (5) revisi produk awal , (6) uji coba skala besar , (7) revisi operasional produk. Penelitian ini melibatkan guru bahasa Inggris kelas XI dan siswa/i kelas XI IPS 3 SMAN 1 Kota Serang. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan kuesioner siswa, wawancara guru, lembar penilaian siswa, lembar validasi ahli materi dan media. Data tersebut akan dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Analisis data penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa/i dan guru bahasa Inggris membutuhkan multimedia interaktif dalam pembelajaran teks report. Multimedia interaktif teks report (IMPORT) memperoleh hasil persentase dari ahli materi dan media sebesar 96% pada uji coba kelas kecil dan 100% pada tahap uji coba kelas besar. Selain itu, IMPORT memperoleh persentase dari penilaian siswa/i sebesar 82,56% pada uji coba kelas kecil dan 89,2% pada uji coba kelas besar. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa multimedia interaktif (IMPORT) dikategorikan “Valid”. Oleh karena itu, dari data penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa IMPORT dapat digunakan untuk menciptakan pembelajaran teks report yang menyenangkan.
