Abstract

This research investigates the influence of fartlek and interval training methods on increasing VO2MAX in growth spurt category soccer athletes. Utilizing an experimental method with a two-group pretest-posttest design, the study selected 30 athletes from a population of 60 using purposive sampling. The research instrument used was the yoyo intermittent recovery test level 1, with data analysis employing a t-test at a 5% significance level. The findings indicate that both training methods significantly affect the increase in VO2MAX, with the calculated t-values exceeding the critical t-values for both hypotheses. However, there is no significant difference in the effectiveness of fartlek and interval training methods in increasing VO2MAX, as concluded from the results of hypothesis three. Overall, the percentage increase in VO2MAX with both training methods is equal at 39%, indicating that they provide equivalent benefits in improving the physical condition of growth spurt category soccer athletes.
