Abstract

One of the things discussed at the G20 Summit held in Saudi Arabia in 2020 was climate change as one of the most pressing challenges of the 21st century, where the countries that are members of the G20 must be at the forefront in overcoming climate change. Handling climate change is the 13th goal in the SDGs program, namely Climate Action. Experts conclude that greenhouse gas emissions are the gases that cause an increase in the earth's temperature which results in climate change. Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are the largest contribution to greenhouse gases, around 80% (IPCC, 2007). In the 2016-2018 period, CO2 emissions in the G20 increased but decreased in 2019-2020, as did global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, which decreased by 5.8% due to COVID-19. By applying the Generalized Method of Moment (GMM) research methodology, it has shown that GDP per capita has a significant positive effect and GDP per capita squared has a significant negative effect, energy consumption, foreign direct investment and trade openness have a significant positive effect, while population growth has a positive but not significant effect. Then the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis proved to form a “U curve” or reverse pattern with a turning point of 9.708607 in the period 1999-2020 in the G20 consisting of 19 countries and 1 institution

Additional Information: Salah satu hal yang dibahas saat KTT G20 yang diadakan di Arab Saudi tahun 2020 yaitu perubahan iklim sebagai salah satu tantangan yang paling mendesak dari abad ke-21, yang dimana negara-negara yang tergabung dalam G20 harus berada di garis terdepan dalam mengatasi perubahan iklim. Penanganan perubahan iklim merupakan tujuan yang ke 13 dalam program SDGs yaitu Climate Action. Para ahli menyimpulkan bahwa emisi gas rumah kaca merupakan gas-gas yang menjadi penyebab terjadinya kenaikan suhu bumi yang mengakibatkan terjadinya perubahan iklim. Emisi karbondioksida (CO2) merupakan yang paling besar kontribusinya terhadap gas rumah kaca sekitar 80% (IPCC, 2007). Dalam kurun waktu 2016-2018 emisi CO2 di G20 mengalami peningkatan namun menurun di tahun 2019-2020 begitu pun tingkat emisi karbondioksida (CO2) global yakni mengalami penurunan sebesar 5,8% yang diakibatkan COVID-19. Dengan menerapakan metode penelitian Generalized Method of Moment (GMM) menunjukkan bahwa PDB per kapita memiliki pengaruh positif signifikan dan PDB per kapita kuadrat berpengaruh negatif signifikan, konsumsi energi, penanaman modal asing dan keterbukaan perdagangan berpengaruh positif siginifikan sedangkan pertumbuhan penduduk berpengaruh positif namun tidak signifikan. Kemudian Hipotesis Environmental Kuznets Curve terbukti terjadi membentuk “kurva U” atau pola terbalik dengan turning point sebesar 9.708607 pada periode tahun 1999-2020 di G20 yang terdiri dari 19 negara dan 1 lembaga.
