Abstract

This research aims to determine and describe problem solving abilities based on Krulik and Rudnick's stages in terms of students' mathematical logical intelligence. The subjects in this research are class VIII students at SMPN 1 Pandeglang who will be classified based on the level of mathematical logical intelligence. The selection of research subjects was carried out using purposive sampling technique. Tests for collecting data on problem solving abilities by completing mathematical logical intelligence tests, problem solving tests on Pythagorean theorem material, and interviews. The results of the research showed that there was a percentage of 18.75% of students with high category of mathematical logical intelligence, a percentage of 65.63% of students with moderate category of mathematical logical intelligence, and a percentage of 15.63% of students with low category of mathematical logical intelligence. Then from each category 3 students were selected to be evaluated for their mathematical problem solving abilities based on Krulik and Rudnick's stages and interviewed to obtain further information. Based on the research results, subjects with high mathematical logical intelligence fulfill Krulik and Rudnick's five stages, namely reading and thinking, exploring and planning, choosing a strategy, looking for answers, and reflecting and developing. The subject of mathematical logical intelligence is fulfilling Krulik and Rudnick's four stages, namely reading and thinking, exploring and planning, choosing a strategy, and looking for answers. Low mathematical logical intelligence subjects fulfill Krulik and Rudnick's two stages, namely reading and thinking and exploring and planning.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah berdasarkan tahapan Krulik dan Rudnick ditinjau dari kecerdasan logis matematis siswa. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VIII di SMPN 1 Pandeglang yang akan diklasifikasikan berdasarkan tingkat kecerdasan logis matematis. Pemilihan subjek penelitian dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Tes untuk pengumpulan data pada kemampuan pemecahan masalah dengan menyelesaikan tes kecerdasan logis matematis, tes pemecahan masalah materi teorema pythagoras, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat persentase 18,75% siswa kecerdasan logis matematis kategori tinggi, terdapat persentase 65,63% siswa kecerdasan logis matematis kategori sedang, dan terdapat persentase 15,63% siswa kecerdasan logis matematis kategori rendah. Kemudian dari setiap kategori dipilih 3 siswa untuk dievaluasi kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika berdasarkan tahapan Krulik dan Rudnick serta diwawancarai untuk mendapatkan informasi lebih lanjut. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, subjek kecedasan logis matematis tinggi memenuhi lima tahapan Krulik dan Rudnick yaitu membaca dan berpikir, mengeksplorasi dan merencanakan, memilih strategi, mencari jawaban, serta merefleksikan dan mengembangkan. Subjek kecerdasan logis matematis sedang memenuhi empat tahapan Krulik dan Rudnick yaitu membaca dan berpikir, mengeksplorasi dan merencanakan, memilih strategi, serta mencari jawaban. Subjek kecerdasan logis matematis rendah memenuhi dua tahapan Krulik dan Rudnick yaitu membaca dan berpikir serta mengeksplorasi dan merencanakan.
