Abstract
Basically, brake lining is one of the components of a motorized vehicle that functions to stop the speed of the vehicle or slow down the speed of the vehicle. This research aims to produce new composite materials as an alternative to motorcycle brake lining materials with materials that are easy to obtain, environmentally friendly, have good characteristics and determine the effect of soaking variations on the mechanical properties of composites. Betung bamboo is the main material used, the material is composed of bamboo powder, steel fiber, epoxy resin, zinc (zn) powder, alumina powder, graphite powder, with variations in bamboo soaking using rice field mud, sewer mud and water. The method is powder metallurgy, using a single punch cold press compaction with a pressure of 50 bar, then the material is sintered for 1 hour at a temperature of 150 ℃. The characteristics studied are wear rate, hardness, density, porosity, and microstructure observation. The best composite mechanical properties for motorcycle brake linings were found in samples using sewer mud immersion. With a density value of 1.793 gr/cm³, porosity value of 0.341%, hardness value of 17 HBW and wear rate value of 4.6363545 × 10-6 mm3/mm. Weighting techniques were performed on each test, and on each immersion, the highest value on sewer mud 1.718453614.

Additional Information: | Pada dasar nya kampas rem merupakan salah satu komponen dari kendaraan bermotor yang berfungsi untuk menghentikan laju kendaraan atau memperlambat laju kendaraan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan material komposit baru sebagai alternatif bahan kampas rem sepeda motor dengan bahan yang mudah di dapat, ramah lingkungan, memiliki karakteristik yang baik dan mengetahui pengaruh variasi perendaman terhadap sifat mekanik komposit. Bambu betung adalah bahan utama yang digunakan, bahan yang tersusun dari serbuk bambu, serat baja, resin epoksi, serbuk seng(zn), serbuk alumina, serbuk grafit, dengan variasi perendaman bambu dengan menggunakan lumpur sawah, lumpur selokan dan air. Metode yang yaitu metalurgi serbuk, menggunakan kompaksi cold press single punch dengan tekanan 50 bar, selanjutnya bahan di ciuring selama 1 jam dengan temperature 150℃ karakteristik yang di teliti yaitu laju keausan, kekerasan, densitas, porositas, koefisien gesek, dan pengamatan struktur mikro. Sifat mekanik komposit paling baik untuk kampas rem sepeda motor ditemukan pada sampel yang menggunakan perendaman lumpur selokan. Dengan nilai densitas sebesar 1.793 gr/cm³, nilai porositas sebesar 0.341%, nilai kekerasan sebesar 17 HBW dan nilai laju keausan sebesar 4.6363545 × 10-6 mm3 /mm dan koefisien gesek 0,26. Dilakukan teknik pembobotan pada setiap pengujian, dan setiap perendamanan, nilai tertinggi pada lumpur selokan 1,718453614. | |||||||||
