Abstract

In the transportation sector, inhibited freeway plays a role in determining the pace of the people's economy. Along with this, a toll road was built. The Tangerang - Merak toll road has a length of 72.45 km. The high number of accidents on toll roads has reached 2834 accidents for the last 5 years. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics and causes of accidents, determine accident-prone areas and establish strategies to improve road traffic safety in accident-prone areas. for secondary data used are accident data from 2014 to 2018. Using the analysis method of Accident Equivalent Numbers, Upper Control Limit, and Cummulative Summary. The results showed that the characteristics of the Tangerang - Merak toll road traffic accident were highest in section A in 2014 in December and Wednesday. The worst accident rate is on the right of way of the road with material losses. And in section B the highest accident was in 2018 in March and on Sunday. For the worst accident rate is on the median of the road with material losses and the factors causing the accident are humans. Accident-prone areas obtained by several segments of the three methods, namely in Segment 1 for AEK and UCL methods because in that segment the equivalent number line intersects with the control boundary line, and in Segments 1-7 for the Cusum method because in all segments the value is positive which means the area accident prone.
