Abstract
This research aims to determine the history of the Serang Regent's Office and its role as the Center of Colonial Government in Serang Regency in 1829-1945. The method used in this research is historical methods, including heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The analysis in this research itself uses cultural heritage theory and colonialism theory. This theory is used to analyze research on the building object of the Serang Regent's Office as one of the cultural heritage remains during the Dutch colonial era, so it is closely related to the theory of colonialism to unite a series of time chronologies, namely the colonial period. The results of the research show that the Serang Regent's office was completed in 1826 and began to be actively used as the Serang Regent's office in 1829, a year after the government center moved from Kaibon to the Serang area. This development was motivated by the ineffectiveness of the government center in Kaibon and the lack of adequate government offices at that time. From the start, this building was designed as an office and official residence for the serving regents of Serang and was used as the center of colonial government activities, as well as the center of community activities in various aspects of life, including religious life, social life and culture. Conclusion The establishment of the Serang Regent's Office is proof of the long history that Banten, especially the Serang region, has gone through from the sultanate era to the present. Being the most historic building as a legacy of the Dutch Colonialism period in the land of Banten, so it is appropriate for this building to become a cultural heritage that should be preserved and remembered for its history by all levels of society, especially the people of Serang.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui historis dari Sejarah Kantor Bupati Serang dan Peranannya sebagai Pusat Pemerintahan Kolonial di Kabupaten (Regency) Serang pada tahun 1829-1945. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan metode sejarah, meliputi heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Analisis dalam penelitian ini sendiri menggunakan teori cagar budaya dan teori kolonialisme. Teori ini digunakan untuk menganalisis penelitian objek bangunan Kantor Bupati Serang sebagai salah satu peninggalan cagar budaya pada masa pemerintahan kolonial Belanda, sehingga berkaitan erat dengan teori kolonialisme untuk menyatukan rangkaian kronologi waktu yakni masa kolonialisme. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwasanya kantor Bupati Serang selesai dibangun pada tahun 1826 dan mulai aktif digunakan sebagai kantor Bupati Serang pada tahun 1829 setahun setelah perpindahan pusat pemerintahan dari Kaibon ke wilayah Serang. Pembangunan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tidak efektifnya pusat pemerintahan di Kaibon dan kurang memadainya kantor-kantor pemerintahan pada kala itu. Dari awal dibangun bangunan ini sudah dirancang sebagai kantor dan sekaligus rumah dinas bagi para bupati Serang yang menjabat dan dijadikan sebagai pusat kegiatan pemerintahan kolonial, sekaligus pusat kegiatan masyarakat dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan, baik kehidupan beragama, kehidupan sosial masyarakat, dan kebudayaan. Kesimpulan berdirinya Kantor Bupati Serang menjadi salah satu bukti sejarah panjang yang dilalui Banten khususnya wilayah Serang dari masa kesultanan hingga saat ini. Menjadi bangunan yang paling bersejarah sebagai peninggalan masa Kolonialisme Belanda di tanah Banten, Sehingga sudah selayaknya bangunan ini menjadi warisan budaya yang patut di lestarikan dan di kenang sejarahnya oleh seluruh lapisan masyarakat khsusnya masyarakat Serang. | |||||||||
