Abstract

This research aims to determine the characteristics of Carbon Dots made from potato peel waste through a synthesis process using microwave irradiation techniques based on UV-Vis Spectrophotometer and FTIR characterization tests. The synthesis process was carried out by heating potato peel waste using a microwave for 8, 12 and 15 minutes. Then, the resulting C-Dots samples were characterized using a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer and FTIR to identify functional group compounds. The UV-Vis spectrophotometer test uses a wavelength range of 190-420 nm. The results of the UV-Vis Spectrophotometer test showed that the highest absorbance peak was 3,347 at a wavelength of 209 nm, while the FTIR test identified the C=C functional group which indicated the presence of C-Dots cores, as well as other compounds such as C≡C and O−H.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik Carbon Dots yang dibuat dari limbah kulit kentang melalui proses sintesis menggunakan teknik iradiasi gelombang mikro (microwave) berdasarkan uji karakterisasi Spektrofotometer UV-Vis dan FTIR. Proses sintesis dilakukan dengan memanaskan limbah kulit kentang menggunakan microwave selama 8, 12, dan 15 menit. Kemudian, sampel C-Dots yang dihasilkan dikarakterisasi menggunakan Spektrofotometer UV-Vis dan FTIR untuk mengidentifikasi senyawa gugus fungsi. Uji spektrofotometer UV-Vis menggunakan rentang panjang gelombang 190-420 nm. Hasil uji Spektrofotometer UV-Vis menunjukkan puncak absorbansi tertinggi yaitu 3.347 berada pada panjang gelombang 209 nm, sementara uji FTIR mengidentifikasi gugus fungsi C=C yang menunjukkan adanya core C-Dots, serta senyawa lain seperti C≡C dan O−H.
