Abstract

One of the issues faced by PT XYZ is the suboptimal process of recycling reject water. The mixing of reject water with wastewater from previous processes and the suboptimal performance of the lagoon pump result in the treated water sometimes needing to be discarded, as it cannot be returned to the initial stage. This can be a loss for the company as it cannot maximize the production of available raw water. Therefore, the design of a hydraulic ram pump is proposed as a potential solution to this problem. The purpose of designing the hydraulic ram pump is to determine the necessary pump specifications and estimate the achievable output flow rate. The design of the hydraulic ram pump involves several stages, including collecting input data and designing key components of the pump such as the air chamber, waste valve, input pipe, and output pipe. To estimate the output flow rate, the D'Aubuisson ratio equation method is used with efficiency variations of 60%, 50%, 40%, 30%, 20%, and 10%. Based on calculations and input data obtained, the specifications for the hydraulic ram pump's air chamber include an input diameter and pump body size of 6 inches (DN 150), an output diameter of 3 inches (DN 75), an input head height of 2.5 meters, and an output head height reaching 6.799 meters. The maximum waste valve load is 10.525 kg with a valve cross-section diameter of 120 mm, and the air chamber volume of the pump is approximately 0.0557 m³. With these specifications, the hydraulic ram pump is estimated to produce an output of 2.22 L/s from 9.88 L/s if the pump efficiency reaches 60%, and an output of 0.37 L/s from 9.88 L/s if the pump efficiency is only 10%.

Additional Information: Salah satu permasalahan yang terjadi pada PT XYZ yaitu proses recycle reject water yang masih belum optimal. Terjadinya pencampuran reject water dengan air limbah proses sebelumnya, maupun pompa pada lagoon yang tidak bekerja secara maksimal mengakibatkan air sisa pengolahan terkadang harus dibuang karena tidak dapat mengembalikan air tersebut ke tahap awal. Hal ini tentu dapat menjadi kerugian bagi perusahaan karena tidak dapat memaksimalkan produksi air baku yang tersedia. Oleh karena itu, perancangan pompa hidram diusulkan untuk dapat menjadi salah satu solusi untuk permasalahan tersebut. Perancangan pompa hidram ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui spesifikasi pompa yang diperlukan serta berapa perkiraan debit output yang dicapai. Dalam perancangan pompa hidram, diperlukan beberapa tahap perancangan yang meliputi pengambilan data input serta perancangan bagian-bagian penting pada pompa hidram seperti air chamber, waste valve, pipe input, dan pipe output. Sedangkan, untuk mencari perkiraan debit output menggunakan metode persamaan rasio D’ Aubuisson dengan variasi efisiensi 60%, 50%, 40%, 30%, 20%, 10%. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan dan data input yang didapatkan, spesifikasi air chamber pompa hidram memiliki diameter input dan badan pompa berukuran 6 inci (DN 150), diameter output berukuran 3 inci (DN 75), ketinggian head input 2,5 m, sedangkan untuk ketinggian head output mencapai 6,799 m. Beban katup buang maksimal 10,525 kg dengan diameter penampang katup 120 mm dan volume air chamber pada pompa yaitu berkisar 0,0557 m3. Dengan spesifikasi tersebut, diperkirakan pompa hidram mampu menghasilkan output 2,22 L/s dari 9,88 L/s jika efisiensi pompa mencapai 60% dan output 0,37 L/s dari 9,88 L/s jika efisiensi pompa hanya 10%.
