Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of crossword puzzle on students’ vocabulary mastery at the 5th grade of SDN Gurubug II.. This study uses true experimental design and quantitative research. It comprises two groups, Experimental and Control class, each with thirty students. The pretest and posttest served as the research's instruments. Using the Pearson Moment Product formula and the IBM SPSS Statistics 25 tool, the validity and reliability of the item tests were assessed. The pre- and post-tests administered to the experimental and control groups were composed of reliable and valid test items. The researcher utilized the paired sample t-test formula to evaluate the hypothesis. Based on the results of the calculations, the value of sig from both groups are 0.000. and 0.000, because 0.000 & 0.000 < 0.05. It can be concluded that Ha is accepted, and Ho is rejected. It indicates the use of crossword puzzle is effective in teaching vocabulary to 5th grade students at SDN Gurubug II

Additional Information: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan teka teki silang terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa di kelas 5 SDN Gurubug II. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimen murni dengan metode kuantitatif. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelompok, kelas Eksperimen dan kelas Kontrol, masing-masing terdiri dari tiga puluh siswa. Pretest dan posttest dijadikan sebagai instrumen penelitian. Dengan menggunakan rumus Produk Pearson Moment dan aplikasi IBM SPSS Statistics 25, validitas dan reliabilitas tes item diukur. Pretest dan posttest yang diberikan kepada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol terdiri dari soal tes yang reliabel dan valid. Peneliti menggunakan rumus uji-t berpasangan untuk mengevaluasi hipotesis. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan, nilai sig dari kedua kelompok adalah 0,000. dan 0,000, karena 0,000 & 0,000 < 0,05. Dapat disimpulkan Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Hal ini menunjukkan penggunaan crossword puzzle efektif dalam pengajaran kosakata pada siswa kelas 5 SDN Gurubug II
