Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the influence of the irradiation period of LED light and the type of growing media for the growth and yield of pea shoot microgreens (Pisum sativum L.). This research was conducted from July to August 2023 in the Laboratory of Biotechnology and Plant Physiology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. The research used a split plot design, with two factors as treatment and three replications. The main plot was the time of irradiation LED light, which consisted of four levels: 0 hour, 8 hours, 12 hours, and 16 hours. The subplot was the growing media, which consisted of three levels: cocopeat, vermiculite, and rockwool. The results of this study showed the treatment of 16 hours gave the best growth and yields at number of leaves parameters at 10 days after sowing (5.63 leaves) and chlorophyll of leaves (42.57 units). The application of vermiculite growing media provided the best growth and yields at plant height parameters at 10 days after sowing (17.93 cm), number of leaves (6.11 leaves), and microgreens’ fresh weight (11.71 g). There was an interaction between the irradiation time of LED light and the growing media for the microgreens’ fresh weight parameters.

Additional Information: Kacang ercis (Pisum sativum L.) merupakan jenis tanaman penghasil polong yang memiliki kandungan gizi dan protein yang tinggi. Namun kandungan gizinya seringkali menurun bahkan hilang ketika melawati proses pengolahan yang kurang tepat. Sehingga perlu dilakukan pemanfaatan dalam bentuk lain yaitu microgreens kacang ercis. Budidaya microgreens merupakan bagian dari konsep urban farming yang biasanya dilakukan didalam ruangan tanpa tanah dengan bantuan lampu LED sebagai sumber cahaya alternatif pengganti sinar matahari. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama penyinaran lampu LED dan jenis media tanam terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil microgreens kacang ercis (Pisum sativum L.). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli sampai Agustus 2023 di Laboratorium Fisiologi dan Bioteknologi Tanaman Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan yaitu Rancangan Petak Terbagi (split plot) dengan 3 ulangan. Petak utama adalah lama penyinaran lampu LED yang terdiri atas 4 taraf yaitu 0 jam, 8 jam, 12 jam, dan 16 jam. Sedangkan, anak petaknya adalah media tanam yang terdiri atas 3 taraf yaitu cocopeat, vermikulit, dan rockwool. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyinaran lampu LED 16 jam memberikan hasil terbaik pada parameter jumlah daun 10 HST (5,63 helai) dan klorofil daun (42,57 unit). Media tanam vermikulit memberikan hasil terbaik pada parameter tinggi tanaman 10 HST (17,93 cm), jumlah daun (6,11 helai), dan bobot basah microgreens (11,71 g). Terdapat interaksi antara perlakuan lama penyinaran lampu LED dan media tanam hanya pada parameter bobot basah microgreens.
