Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of applying several concentrations of papaya leaf extract in inhibiting the growth of the mycelium of the fungus Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. vanillae causes stem rot disease in vanilla plants in vitro. The method used in this research was a Completely Randomized Design which consisted of one single factor, namely the concentration of papaya leaf extract. The concentration of papaya leaf extract consists of 8 levels, namely 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, and 70%. The parameters observed included the diameter of the fungus mycelium and the percentage of inhibitory power. The results of this study showed that the application of papaya leaf extract inhibited the growth of Fusarium oxysporum mycelium diameter in the P6 treatment, namely a concentration of 60% as the best concentration on the 9th, 12th, and 14th days after inoculation. Meanwhile, on the 3rd and 6th days after inoculation, the results did not show any significant differences. The percentage of inhibitory power of P6 treatment (60%) on the 9th day after inoculation showed the largest percentage compared to other concentrations and the antifungal activity showed a medium level category.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian beberapa konsentrasi ekstrak daun pepaya dalam menghambat pertumbuhan miselium jamur Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. vanillae menyebabkan penyakit busuk batang pada tanaman vanili secara in vitro. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap yang terdiri dari satu faktor tunggal yaitu konsentrasi ekstrak daun pepaya. Konsentrasi ekstrak daun pepaya terdiri dari 8 taraf yaitu 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, dan 70%. Parameter yang diamati meliputi diameter miselium jamur dan persentase daya hambat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak daun pepaya menghambat pertumbuhan diameter miselium Fusarium oxysporum pada perlakuan P6 yaitu konsentrasi 60% sebagai konsentrasi terbaik pada hari ke 9, 12, dan 14 setelah inokulasi. Sedangkan pada hari ke-3 dan ke-6 setelah inokulasi, hasilnya tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang berarti. Persentase daya hambat perlakuan P6 (60%) pada hari ke 9 setelah inokulasi menunjukkan persentase terbesar dibandingkan konsentrasi lainnya dan aktivitas antijamurnya menunjukkan kategori sedang.
