Abstract
Citorek Village is a traditional village that is very rich in culture, but with the presence of kyai in Citorek Tengah village, the kyai are able to bring about change in society so that ultimately the kyai have a fairly large role in community life, both socially and politically. This research aims to find out how big the role of kyai is in social and political change in Citorek Tengah village. The theory used in this research is the patron-client theory according to James Scott, the characteristics of which are: 1. There is inequality in the exchange, 2. There is a face-to-face nature, 3. The bond is flexible and expansive. The research method used is a qualitative research methodology using a case study approach. The research results show that kyai have a role in social and political change in Citorek Tengah village. The dynamics that occur show that kyai have a role and bring about social and political change, kyai even have influence in the election of village heads so that these kyai can be said to be patrons because of the influence they have.

| Additional Information: | Desa Citorek merupakan desa Adat yang sangat kental akan budaya, namun dengan hadirnya kyai Di desa citorek tengah kyai mampu membawa perubahan dalam masyarakat hingga akhirnya kyai memiliki peran yang cukup besar di dalam kehidupan masyarakat baik dalam sosial maupun politik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk dapat mengetahui seberapa besar peran kyai dalam perubahan sosial dan politik di desa citorek tengah. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu teori patron klien menurut James Scott sifat-sifatnya yaitu: 1. Terdapat ketidaksamaan dalam pertukaran, 2. Adanya sifat tatap muka, 3. Ikatan bersifat luwes dan meluas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metodologi penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kyai memiliki peran dalam perubahan sosial dan politik di desa citorek tengah. Dinamika yang terjadi menunjukan bahwa kyai memiliki peran dan membawa perubahan dalam sosial dan politik, bahkan kyai memiliki pengaruh dalam pemilihan kepala desa sehingga kyai ini bisa dikatakan sebagai patron karena pengaruh yang dimilikinya. | ||||||
