Abstract
Face mask have been used during daily life since Desember 2019 due to the SARSCov-2 outbreak to prevent infection. The result of using masks for a long period of time impacting in skin damage that lead to damage for skin barrier. Macroalgae Kappaphycus alvarezii has bioactive components with high antioxidant activities in form of polyphenols, carotenoids, catechins, carrageenans, and phlorotannins which may be used to treat skin damages caused by wearing mask during COVID19 pandemic. Combine with green tea extract to enhance the ability to improve skin condition. This study aims to identify the characteristics of hydrating toner consist of K. alvarezii and green tea (C. sinensis) extracts. Extraction of K. alvarezii and green tea was carried out using the maceration method. The concentration of K. alvarezii extract used were 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%. The test parameters carried out were the antioxidant capacity of DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes, pH test, homogenity, hedonic, and dry time test. The percentage of DPPH inhibition of hydrating toner is in range of 83,32±0,77-90,26±1,85%. The width of inhibition zone is 5,5±3,97- 9,83±1,76 mm with strong to moderate antibacterial effects. pH value is in range of 5,75-5,85 which still in normal skin pH range. Hydrating toner was perfectly mixed, produce a distinctive aroma of green tea, brownish yellow in color, giving cool impression, not sticky, and feels moist . The time for hydrating toner absorb in skin is 1 minute 2 seconds up to 1 minute 57 seconds.

Additional Information: | Masker wajah digunakan selama kehidupan sehari-hari sejak Desember 2019 akibat wabah SARS-CoV-2 untuk mencegah infeksi. Akibat penggunaan masker dalam waktu yang lama memunculkan reaksi kulit berupa hiperhidrasi, kontak dermatitis, jerawat, dermatitis atopik, kulit kering, bahkan memperburuk penyakit kulit yang ada. Kerusakan kulit tersebut dapat berujung pada kerusakan skin barrier. Rumput laut Kappaphycus alvarezii memiliki komponen bioaktif tinggi antioksidan berupa polifenol, karotenoid, katekin, karagenan, dan florotanin yang berpotensi untuk menangani kerusakan kulit akibat penggunaan masker selama pandemi COVID-19. Kombinasi dengan ekstrak teh hijau untuk meningkatkan kemampuan memperbaiki kondisi kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik sediaan hydrating toner ekstrak K. alvarezii dan teh hijau (C. sinensis). Ekstraksi rumput laut K. alvarezii dan teh hijau (C. sinensis) dilakukan menggunakan metode maserasi. Konsentrasi ekstrak K. alvarezii yang digunakan yaitu 0%, 5%, 10%, dan 15%. Proses pengujian yang dilakukan pada sediaan hydrating toner yaitu kapasitas antioksidan metode DPPH (2,2-difenil-1- pikrihidrazil), aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes, uji pH, uji homogenitas, uji hedonik, dan uji lama waktu kering. Persentase inhibisi DPPH sediaan hydrating toner berada pada kisaran 83,31±0,77- 90,26±1,85%. Lebar daerah hambat yaitu 5,5±3,97-9,83±1,76 mm dengan daya antibakteri kuat sampai sedang. Nilai pH sediaan berada dalam kisaran 5,75-5,85 yang masih dalam rentang pH kulit normal. Sediaan hydrating toner yang dihasilkan tercampur dengan sempurna, menghasilkan aroma khas teh hijau, berwarna kuning kecoklatan, terkesan dingin, tidak lengket, dan terasa lembab. Lama waktu mengering sediaan yaitu 1 menit 2 detik sampai 1 menit 57 detik. | |||||||||
