Abstract
My First Client movie defines the construction of a true story of a tragic child abuse case in 2013, in Chilgok, North Gyeongsang, South Korea. The duration of violence represented in this film is 10 minutes 33 seconds. In this study, researchers focused on one category of violence, namely psychological violence. The dominance cases of psychological violence against children that occur in the world requires the contribution of all parties, both in the legal process and prevention efforts. The media can play an important role in preventing violence against children by providing informational and educational materials. Researchers are interested in examining more about how signs represent violence in children constructed in the film My First Client, especially psychological violence. Therefore, this study objectives to tell forms of psychological violence in children that are defined and visualized through signifier and signified as well as explore myths that are constructed using the theory of Social Construction Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann. The method of analysis uses descriptive qualitative with Roland Barthes' Semiotic analysis of two order of signification. The results showed that psychological violence represented included degrading or insulting speech, threats of physical harm, coercion, and social isolation. It can be concluded that psychological violence against children in South Korea is not much different from other countries.

| Additional Information: | Film My First Client mendefinisikan wujud konstruksi kisah nyata kasus kekerasan anak yang tragis di masa 2013, di Chilgok, Gyeongsang Utara, Korea Selatan. Durasi kekerasan yang direpresentasikan dalam film ini adalah 10 menit 33 detik. Pada penelitian ini peneliti berfokus pada satu kategori kekerasan yaitu kekerasan psikologis. Dominasi kasus kekerasan psikologis pada anak yang terjadi di dunia memerlukan kontribusi semua pihak, baik dalam proses hukum maupun upaya pencegahannya. Media dapat memainkan peran penting dalam mencegah kekerasan terhadap anak dengan menyediakan bahan informasi dan materi edukasi. Peneliti tertarik untuk menelaah lebih dalam tentang bagaimana tanda-tanda merepresentasikan kekerasan pada anak yang dikonstruksi dalam film My First Client khususnya kekerasan psikologis. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap bentuk kekerasan psikologis pada anak yang didefinisikan dan divisualisasikan melalui penanda dan petanda juga mengeksplorasi mitos yang dikonstruksi dengan menggunakan teori Konstruksi Sosial Peter L. Berger dan Thomas Luckmann. Metode analisis menggunakan kualitatif deskriptif dengan analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes pemaknaan tingkat pertama dan kedua kemudian mitos. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kekerasan psikologis yang direpresentasikan diantaranya ucapan merendahkan atau menghina, ancaman bahaya fisik, paksaan, dan isolasi sosial. Dapat disimpulkan kekerasan psikologis pada anak di Korea Selatan tidak jauh berbeda dengan negara lainnya. | |||||||||
