Abstract

Blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) is a high economic value in indonesia and high market demand. Catching crab use of collapsible trap because trap both in terms of the size of the catch and the level of selectivity. Trap selectivity is greatly influenced by the design and construction of the trap, the design of the trap mouth, and the size of the mesh used on the trap walls. A combination of mesh color and slope of the mouth at the entrance as well as a larger mesh size is desirable able to produce effective and environmentally friendly folding traps for catching crabs. It is hoped that this research will be the answer to developing a more optimal folding trap design for catching crabs in Banten Bay. The research was carried out from November to December 2022 in waters of Banten Bay. We compared the performance between control traps (green entrance color, 20° tilt angle, ¾ inch mesh wall) Yellow Entrance Trap Modification (yellow entrance color, 40° tilt angle, 3 inch mesh wall) and Red Entrance Trap Modification (Door entry is red, Tilt angle 40°, Mesh wall 3 inches). Modifications with a yellow entrance color, 40° tilt angle and 3 inch trap walls are more effective for catching blue swiming crab with a crab composition of 91% and an average weight of 138.3g/fish caught.

Additional Information: Penggunaan bubu mempunyai kelebihan dibandingkan dengan jaring insang, baik dalam ukuran hasil tangkapan maupun tingkat selektivitasnya. Selektivitas bubu sangat dipengaruhi oleh desain dan konstruksi bubu, desain mulut bubu, dan ukuran mata jaring yang digunakan pada dinding bubu. Kombinasi warna jaring dan kemiringan mulut pada pintu masuk serta ukuran jaring yang lebih besar diharapkan mampu menghasilkan bubu lipat yang efektif sekaligus ramah lingkungan untuk penangkapan rajungan. Penelitian ini diharapkan akan dapat menjadi jawaban untuk pengembangan desain bubu lipat yang lebih optimal untuk penangkapan rajungan di Teluk Banten.Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan November sampai dengan Desember 2022 di perairan Teluk Banten. Modifikasi dengan warna pintu masuk kuning, sudut kemiringan 40° dan dinding bubu 3 inci lebih efektif untuk menangkap rajungan dengan komposisi rajungan sebesar 91% dan berat rata-rata berat rajungan yang tertangkap sebesar 138,3g/ekor.
