Abstract

This study examines errors in the use of coordinative, correlative, subordinative, and inter-sentence conjunctions according to Moeliono's theory. The objectives of this study are (1) to identify the conjunctions used in the short story essays of students of class IX SMP Negeri 1 Tunjung Teja, (2) to describe the errors in the use of conjunctions in the short story essays of students of class IX SMP Negeri 1 Tunjung Teja. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The data collection technique in this research is free listening technique. The data in this study are conjunctions used in students' short story essays, namely coordinative, correlative, subordinative, and inter-sentence conjunctions. Based on the data analysis, 119 sentences with conjunction usage errors were found in the students' short story essays. The data can be broken down: errors in the use of coordinative conjunctions as much as 76 data, errors in the use of correlative conjunctions as much as 3 data, errors in the use of subordinative conjunctions as much as 30 data, and errors in the use of inter-sentence conjunctions as much as 10 data. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there are still many students who make mistakes in using conjunctions in their short story essays. This is evidenced by the 35 short stories produced by students, almost all of them made mistakes in the use of conjunctions.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini mengkaji kesalahan penggunaan konjungsi koordinatif, korelatif, subordinatif, dan antarkalimat sesuai dengan teori Moeliono. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) mengidentifikasi konjungsi yang digunakan dalam karangan cerpen siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Tunjung Teja, (2) mendeskripsikan kesalahan penggunaan konjungsi dalam karangan cerpen siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Tunjung Teja. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik simak bebas libat cakap. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah konjungsi yang dipakai dalam karangan cerpen siswa, yaitu konjungsi koordinatif, korelatif, subordinatif, dan antarkalimat. Berdasarkan analisis data yang telah dilakukan, kalimat yang memiliki kesalahan penggunaan konjungsi dalam karangan cerpen siswa ditemukan sebanyak 119 data. Data tersebut dapat dirinci: kesalahan penggunaan konjungsi koordinatif sebanyak 76 data, kesalahan penggunaan konjungsi korelatif sebanyak 3 data, kesalahan penggunaan konjungsi subordinatif sebanyak 30 data, dan kesalahan penggunaan konjungsi antarkalimat sebanyak 10 data. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa masih banyak siswa yang melakukan kesalahan penggunaan konjungsi dalam hasil karangan cerpen. Hal itu dibuktikan dari 35 cerpen yang dihasilkan siswa, hampir semuanya melakukan kesalahan dalam pengunaan konjungsi.
