Abstract
The low ability in solving mathematical problems poses a serious challenge for students in tackling math questions. Personality and gender differences influence students in demonstrating mathematical problem solving abilities. This research aims to analyze mathematical problem solving abilities in terms of personality types by Myers-Briggs based on gender. The subjects selected were students in classes XI-2 and XI-6 at SMA Negeri 3 Kota Serang for the 2023/2024 academic year. Eight subjects are chosen using purposive sampling, with criteria of 2 guardian subjects, 2 artisan subjects, 2 rational subjects, and 2 idealist subjects. Two subjects from each personality type represent 1 male and 1 female. This study employs a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Each subject is given 2 story problems related to the material SPLDV, with a duration of 20 minutes. The results of this research indicate that male guardian subjects, male artisan subjects, and male idealist subjects are capable of successfully completing all problem-solving stages according to Polya, namely the subject is able to demonstrate his abilities by writing and explaining at the stages of understanding, planning, implementing and reviewing. As for the problem-solving ability of male rational subjects, female guardian subjects, female artisan subjects, and female rational subjects, they only manage to complete 1 problem-solving stage according to Polya, that is, they are only able to demonstrate their ability by writing and explaining at the stage of understanding the problem. Meanwhile, female idealist subjects are able to pass 3 problem-solving stages according to Polya, namely only being able to demonstrate his ability by writing and executing at the understanding, planning and implementing stages, but other questions have not been worked on due to time constraints.

Additional Information: | Rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis menjadi masalah serius bagi siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika. Perbedaan kepribadian dan gender menjadi pengaruh bagi siswa dalam menunjukkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang ditinjau dari tipe kepribadian menurut Myers-Briggs berdasarkan gender. Subjek yang dipilih merupakan siswa kelas XI-2 dan XI-6 di SMA Negeri 3 Kota Serang tahun ajaran 2023/2024. 8 subjek dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling dengan ketentuan 2 subjek guardian, 2 subjek artisan, 2 subjek rational, dan 2 subjek idealist. 2 subjek dari setiap tipe kepribadian tersebut mewakili 1 laki-laki dan 1 perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Setiap subjek diberikan 2 soal cerita mengenai materi SPLDV dengan durasi 20 menit. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa subjek guardian laki-laki, subjek artisan laki-laki, dan subjek idealist laki-laki menjadi subjek yang mampu melewati semua tahapan pemecahan menurut Polya dengan baik dan benar, yakni subjek mampu menunjukkan kemampuannya dengan menuliskan dan menjelaskan pada tahap memahami, merencanakan, melaksanakan dan meninjau kembali. Untuk kemampuan subjek rational laki-laki, subjek guardian perempuan, subjek artisan perempuan, dan subjek rational perempuan hanya mampu melewati 1 tahapan pemecahan masalah menurut Polya, yakni hanya mampu menunjukkan kemampuannya dengan menuliskan dan menjelaskan pada tahap memahami masalah saja. Sedangkan subjek idealist perempuan, mampu melewati 3 tahapan pemecahan masalah menurut Polya hanya pada satu soal saja, yakni hanya mampu menunjukkan kemampuannya dengan menuliskan dan menjelaskan pada tahap memahami, merencanakan dan melaksanakan, namun soal lainnya belum dikerjakan karena keterbatasan waktu. | |||||||||
