Abstract

The research aims to investigate the improvement of speaking ability. The subject of this research was VII-A class of SMPN 1 Bayah. This research was examined quantitative and qualitative. To collect quantitative used a test. To collect qualitative data used the interview, observation, and questionnaire. The action consists of incorporating the Show and Tell technique into the process of learning problems. To assess the effectiveness of the action, the researcher conducted interviews with students and discussions with teachers. The questionnaire was also used to determine whether students’ speaking processes improved after the action was implemented. The findings of study indicate that the application of the Show and Tell technique is effective in improving students’ speaking ability. Furthermore, the students’ speaking test scores increased. This is indicated by the results of the pre-test conducted before the action and the post-test conducted after the action. In conclusion, Show and Tell technique is suitable to enhance students’ speaking ability.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berbicara. Subyek penelitian ini adalah kelas VII-A SMPN 1 Bayah. Penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Untuk mengumpulkan kuantitatif digunakan tes. Untuk mengumpulkan data kualitatif digunakan wawancara, observasi, dan angket. Tindakan tersebut terdiri dari memasukkan teknik Show and Tell ke dalam proses pembelajaran masalah. Untuk menilai keefektifan tindakan, peneliti melakukan wawancara kepada siswa dan diskusi dengan guru. Kuesioner juga digunakan untuk mengetahui apakah proses berbicara siswa meningkat setelah tindakan diterapkan. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik Show and Tell efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Selain itu, nilai tes berbicara siswa meningkat. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan hasil pre-test yang dilakukan sebelum tindakan dan post-test yang dilakukan setelah tindakan. Kesimpulannya, teknik Show and Tell cocok untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa.
