Abstract

The contaminant that is widely encountered today is plastic. Poorly treated plastics can then degrade into microparticles called microplastics. The entry of microplastics into aquatic ecosystems can endanger the aquatic biota, including milkfish. The purpose of this study was to analyze the abundance of microplastic particles in milkfish, identify the characteristics of microplastic particles in milkfish based on their type and color, analyze the relationship of organ weight with microplastic content in milkfish, and analyze water quality in Domas village aquaculture ponds. This research was carried out from March to July 2023 in Domas village, Pontang District, Serang Regency. Sample preparation was carried out at the Aquaculture Laboratory, Department of Fisheries Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. Sample analysis to identify microplastic content was carried out at the Biology Education Laboratory, Department of Biology Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Professional Sciences, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. The FITR test was conducted at the ILRC (Integrated Laboratory and Research Center) University of Indonesia. Microplastic analysis in organs was carried out using KOH, while microplastics in water and sediment were analyzed using NaCL. The results showed that sediment, water, and milkfish samples (gills, stomach, intestines, and meat) had been contaminated with microplastic particles. The types of microplastics found were fibers, fragments, and films with different amounts at each station. FTIR test results conducted on milkfish organs show types of polymers such as polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polycarbonate (PC), polypropylene (PP), and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS).

Additional Information: Bahan pencemar yang banyak ditemui saat ini adalah plastik. Plastik yang tidak diolah dengan baik kemudian dapat terdegradasi menjadi partikel mikro atau disebut mikroplastik. Masuknya mikroplastik ke ekosistem perairan dapat membahayakan biota air yang ada di dalamnya termasuk ikan bandeng. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kelimpahan partikel mikroplastik pada ikan bandeng, mengidentifikasi karakteristik partikel mikroplastik pada ikan bandeng berdasarkan jenis dan warnanya, menganalisis hubungan bobot organ dengan kandungan mikroplastik pada ikan bandeng, dan menganalisis kualitas air yang berada di tambak budidaya Desa Domas. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret hingga Juli 2023 di Desa Domas, Kecamatan Pontang, Kabupaten Serang. Persiapan sampel dilakukan di Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Jurusan Ilmu Perikanan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Analisis sampel untuk mengidentifikasi kandungan mikroplastik dilakukan di Laboratorium Pendidikan Biologi, Jurusan Pendidikan Biologi, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Profesi, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Uji FITR dilakukan di ILRC (Integrated Laboratory and Research Center) Universitas Indonesia. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan metode purposive sampling dengan menentukan 6 titik yang terletak dibagian inlet, tengah dan outlet. Analisis mikroplastik pada organ dilakukan menggunakan KOH, sedangkan mikroplastik pada air dan sedimen dianalisis menggunakan NaCL. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sampel sedimen, air, dan ikan bandeng (insang, lambung, usus, dan daging) telah terkontaminasi partikel mikroplastik. Jenis mikroplastik yang ditemukan berupa fiber, fragmen, dan film dengan jumlah yang berbeda di setiap stasiun. Hasil uji FTIR yang dilakukan pada organ ikan bandeng menunjukkan jenis-jenis polimer seperti polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polycarbonate (PC), polypropylene (PP), dan acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS).
