Abstract

Social acceptance is recognition and appreciation for an individual, both by other individuals and social groups, as well as positive attention from other people in a close relationship so that the individual feels safe, comfortable and appreciated for their existence. The aim of this research is to find out how the community social accepts children with special needs in Ciwasiat Pandeglang. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The informants for this research were 12 people in Ciwasiat Pandeglang. Data was collected through observations, interviews and documentation. The research results showed that the community's social acceptance of children with special needs in Ciwasiat Pandeglang cannot be said to be completely accepting. If viewed based on social acceptance and acceptance factors, the community already knows about children with special needs, the community has good suggestions and sympathy for children with special needs, conflicts rarely occur, but the community is still reluctant to involve children with special needs in a community event, even so Society does not limit themselves or prohibit their families from establishing closeness with children with special needs.

Additional Information: Penerimaan sosial merupakan pengakuan serta penghargaan terhadap individu, baik oleh individu lain maupun kelompok sosial, serta sebagai perhatian positif dari orang lain dalam suatu hubungan yang dekat sehingga individu merasa aman, nyaman serta dihargai keberadaanya. Tujuan dari penerlitian ini adalah mengetahui bagaimana penerimaan sosial masyarakat terhadap anak berkebutuhan khusus di Ciwasiat Pandeglang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Informan penelitian ini adalah masyarakat di Ciwasiat Pandeglang yang berjumlah 12 orang. Data dikumpulkan melalui hasil observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa penerimaan sosial masyarakat terhadap anak berkebutuhan khusus di Ciwasiat Pandeglang belum dapat dikatakan menerima seutuhnya. Apabila ditinjau berdasarkan penerimaan sosial masyarakat dan faktor-faktor penerimaan, masyarakat sudah tahu anak berkebutuhan khusus, sugesti dan simpati masyarakat yang baik terhadap anak berkebutuhan khusus, konfik yang jarang terjadi, namun masyarakat masih enggan melibatkan anak berkebutuhan khusus dalam suatu acara kemasyarakatan, meski begitu masyarakat tidak membatasi diri ataupun melarang keluarganya untuk dapat menjalin keakraban dengan anak berkebutuhan khusus.
