Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of chemical solutions and different soaking times on the dormancy of the Ciherang variety of rice (Oryza sativa L.). The research was conducted at the Seed Certification Laboratory, Center for Monitoring and Certification of Food Crops, Horticulture and Plantation Seeds from March to May 2023. This study used a completely randomized two-factor design. The first factor was type of chemical solution treatment on the seeds (A), which consisted of 4 levels, namely control (aquades) (A0), 20% polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000 solution (A1), 0.00005% gibberellin solution (A2), and 3% potassium nitrate solution (A3). The second factor was immersion time (B), consisted of 3 levels, namely 12 hour immersion (B1), 24 hours (B2), and 36 hours (B3). The results showed that soaking in a 20% polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000, 0.00005% Giberelin, and 3% Kalium Nitrat give highly significant different effect on germination age (day), percentage of germination power (%), percentage of maximum growth potential (%), percentage of growth speed (%/day), percentage of normal sprouts (%), percentage of abnormal sprouts (%), and percentage of seeds not growing ( %). Meanwhile, the long soaking treatment with 12 hours, 24 hours, and 36 hours gave significant difference in germination age (day) and percentage of maximum growth potential. There is an interaction between the type of solution treatment and the soaking time on germination age (day).

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh larutan kimia dan perbedaan lama perendaman terhadap dormansi padi varietas Ciherang (Oryza sativa L.). Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Sertifikasi Benih, Balai Pengawasan Sertifikasi Benih Tanaman Pangan, Hortikultura dan Perkebunan yang dilaksanakan bulan Maret sampai Mei 2023. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode acak lengkap faktorial. Faktor pertama adalah jenis perlakuan larutan kimia pada benih (A), yang terdiri dari 4 taraf yaitu kontrol (aquades) (A0), larutan polietilen glikol (PEG) 6000 20% (A1), larutan giberelin 0,00005% (A2), dan larutan larutan kalium nitrat 3%(A3). Faktor kedua adalah waktu perendaman (B), terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu perendaman 12 jam (B1), 24 jam (B2), dan 36 jam (B3). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perendaman dalam larutan polietilen glikol (PEG) 6000 20%, larutan giberelin 0,00005% dan larutan kalium nitrat 3% memberikan pengaruh berbeda sangat nyata pada umur perkecambahan (hari), persentase daya berkecambah (%), persentase potensi pertumbuhan maksimum (%), persentase kecepatan pertumbuhan (%/hari), persentase persentase kecambah normal (%), persentase kecambah abnormal (%), dan persentase benih tidak tumbuh (%). Sedangkan perlakuan lama perendaman 12 jam, 24 jam, dan 36 jam memberikan perbedaan nyata pada umur perkecambahan (hari) dan persentase potensi pertumbuhan maksimum. Terdapat interaksi antara perlakuan jenis larutan dan lama perendaman terhadap umur perkecambahan (hari).
