Abstract

This research was conducted to explore the process of ICT implementation at project-based learning model, to investigate the challenges experienced by teacher, and to find out the benefits students got while using ICT in learning English. Qualitative research with case study was used as the method to describe a result of process based on the category that had been determined. The researcher used observation, interview, and questionnaire as the data collecting technique. The result of the research revealed that the implementation of ICT carried out by teachers run well and involved ICT equipment such as laptop, projector, speaker, smartphone as the hardware, and Canva, Mentimeter, Live Worksheet as media to convey the learning material and assignment. Moreover, the teacher faced four challenges in implementing ICT for PBL model namely technical issue, teaching method, time commitment, and lack of learning equipment tools and resources. On the other hand, most of students got positive benefits on implementing ICT in learning English. The highest benefits that students got was encouraged their collaboration with their friends with 23 of 26 students or 88.5% agreed with the item. It can be inferred from the explanation that the implementation of ICT at PBL model by the teacher provided some good impacts on students speaking skill, and their collaboration with others.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi proses penerapan TIK pada model pembelajaran berbasis proyek, untuk mengetahui tantangan yang dialami guru, dan untuk mengetahui manfaat yang diperoleh siswa/i saat menggunakan TIK dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian kualitatif dengan studi kasus digunakan sebagai metode untuk mendeskripsikan suatu hasil proses berdasarkan kategori yang telah ditentukan. Peneliti menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan kuesioner sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan TIK yang dilaksanakan oleh guru berjalan dengan baik dan melibatkan peralatan TIK seperti laptop, proyektor, pengeras suara, smartphone sebagai perangkat kerasnya, sedangkan Canva, Mentimeter, Live Worksheet sebagai media penyampaian materi pembelajaran dan tugas. Selain itu, guru menghadapi empat tantangan dalam penerapan TIK untuk model PBL yaitu masalah teknis, metode pengajaran, komitmen waktu, dan kurang memadainya peralatan dan sumber daya pembelajaran. Di sisi lain, sebagian besar siswa/i memperoleh manfaat positif dalam penerapan TIK dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Manfaat tertinggi yang dirasakan oleh siswa/i adalah mereka terdorong untuk berkolaborasi dengan temannya sebanyak 23 dari 26 siswa/i atau 88,5% setuju. Dari penjelasan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan TIK pada model PBL yang dilakukan oleh guru memberikan manfaat yang baik terhadap keterampilan berbicara mereka, dan mendorong mereka untuk berkolaborasi dengan yang lain.
