Abstract

This research aims to test the hypothesis (1) the direct influence of work stress on academic performance; (2) the direct influence of work stress on procrastination; (3) the direct influence of procrastination on academic performance; (4) influence (self management) in reducing the influence of stress on procrastination; (5) procrastination can mediate the effect of stress on academic performance. The research was conducted on lecturers at Banten Jaya University (Unbaja), Serang City, Banten Province. This research is quantitative research with a survey (correlational) method. The data collection technique in this research uses questionnaires. To test the research hypothesis, the analysis technique used is SEM (Structural Equation Modeling), which is carried out through the SmartPLS program. The population in this study were lecturers (educators) at Banten Jaya University. The total population in this study was 110 people. In this research the author used a saturated sample. The reason this research used a saturated sample technique was because the population was small, so the sample in this study used the entire population to be used as respondents, 110 lecturers (teaching staff). The research results show that: (1) There is a positive but not significant influence between stress and academic performance, meaning that the higher the stress, the higher the performance, but not significantly; (2) There is a positive and significant influence between stress and procrastination, meaning that the higher the level of stress, the higher the procrastination; (3) There is a positive and significant influence between procrastination and academic performance, meaning that the higher the level of procrastination, the lower the academic performance; (4) Selfmanagement can reduce the influence of stress on academic performance, where self-management is a predictor variable.

Penelitian dilakukan terhadap dosen pada Universitas Banten Jaya (Unbaja), Kota Serang, Provinsi Banten. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode survey (korelasional). Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan angket/ kuesioner. Untuk menguji hipotesis penelitian, teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah SEM (Structural Equation Modelling), yang dijalankan melalui program SmartPLS. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah dosen (tenaga pendidik) pada Universitas Banten Jaya. Jumlah populasi pada penelitian ini sejumlah 110 orang. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan sampel jenuh Alasan penelitian ini menggunakan teknik sampel jenuh karena jumlah populasi kecil, maka sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan seluruh jumlah populasi untuk digunakan sebagai responden sebanyak 110 dosen (tenaga pendidik). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: (1) Terdapat pengaruh positif tetapi tidak signifikan antara stres dengan kinerja akademik, artinya semakin tinggi stres, maka akan meningkatkan kinerja namun tidak signifikan; (2) Terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan antara stres dengan prokrastinasi, artinya semakin tinggi tingkat stres, maka akan semakin tinggi prokrastinasi; (3) Terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan antara prokrastinasi dengan kinerja akademik, artinya semakin tinggi tingkat prokrastinasi, maka akan semakin rendah kinerja akademik; (4) Pengelolaan diri (self management)dapat mereduksi pengaruh stres terhadap kinerja akademik, di mana pengelolaan diri (self management) sebagai variabel prediktor.
