Abstract
The purpose of this research aims to describe the form of syntax errors that include: (1) the error of using structure phrase in the exemplum essay written by the 9th grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Manggar Belitung Timur, (2) the error of using structure sentence in the exemplum essay written by the 9 grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Manggar Belitung Timur. The subject of this research is the exemplum essay of the 9 th grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Manggar Belitung Timur in the 2017/2018. The object of this research is a sentence that contains elements of syntax error. The method used in this reseach is descriptive qualitative method, to describe a scientific case about the error of using structure phase in the exemplum essay written by the 9th grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Manggar, Belitung Timur. To find and classify sentences that contains syntactic error factor using reading technique and taking a note. The data were analyzed through qualitative descriptive methods by using distributional method with symbol reading technique and Equivalent orthographic method with the technique of sort of determinant elements. The instrument of this research is the writer herself (human instrument), it is as a key instrument that uses form criteria and distribution. The result is, there are two syntax errors on a exemplum essay written by the 9th grade student of SMP Negeri 1 Manggar, Belitung Timur. The first one is, the misuse of structure phrase that involves seven errors: the influence of local language, the inacuraccy use of prepositions, the inacuraccy of phrase structure, the excessive use of elements, the use of excessive superlative forms, the double plurals, and inaccurate use of reciprocal forms. And second is the error use of sentences structure, including 9 erorrs: sentences that has no subject, sentences that has no predicate, the double subject, the inserted word between predicate and object, the ambiguous sentence, the disappearance of conjunction, the illogical sentences, and the use of unnecessary question word.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk kesalahan sintaksis yang meliputi: (1) kesalahan penggunaan struktur frasa pada karangan eksemplum siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Manggar Kabupaten Belitung Timur, (2) kesalahan penggunaan struktur kalimat pada karangan eksemplum siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Manggar Kabupaten Belitung Timur. Subjek penelitian ini adalah karangan eksemplum siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Manggar Kabupaten Belitung Timur tahun pelajaran 2017/ 2018. Objek penelitian ini adalah kalimat yang mengandung unsur kesalahan sintaksis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif, yaitu mendeskripsikan suatu keadaan alamiah mengenai kesalahan penggunaan struktur sintaksis pada karangan eksemplum siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Manggar Kabupaten Belitung Timur. Untuk menemukan dan mengklasifikasikan kalimat yang mengandung unsur kesalahan sintaksis digunakan teknik membaca dan mencatat. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif menggunakan metode agih dengan teknik baca markah dan metode padan ortografis dengan teknik pilah unsur penentu. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri (human instrument), yaitu sebagai instrumen kunci dengan menggunakan kriteria bentuk dan distribusi. Hasil penelitian kesalahan sintaksis pada karangan eksemplum siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Manggar Kabupaten Belitung Timur ada dua. Pertama, kesalahan penggunaan struktur frasa meliputi tujuh kesalahan, yaitu: pengaruh bahasa daerah, ketidaktepatan penggunaan preposisi, ketidaktepatan struktur frasa, penggunaan unsur yang berlebihan, penggunaan bentuk superlatif yang berlebihan, penjamakan ganda, dan ketidaktepatan penggunaan bentuk resiprokal. Kedua, kesalahan penggunaan struktur kalimat meliputi sembilan kesalahan, yaitu: kalimat yang tidak bersubjek kalimat yang tidak berpredikat, kalimat yang tidak bersubjek dan tidak berpredikat (kalimat buntung), pengandaan subjek, antara predikat dan objek yang tersisipi, kalimat yang ambigu, penghilangan konjungsi, kalimat tidak logis, dan penggunaan kata tanya yang tidak perlu. | |||||||||
