Abstract

Cayenne pepper seeds experience a limited growing period, especially the germination phase. Expired seeds are seeds that have exceeded the recommended planting period determined by the seed manufacturer. The aim of this research is to study the effect of immersion various types of cayenne pepper varieties, the length of soaking, and the interaction of the two treatments on cayenne pepper seeds on germination and growth. This research was conducted at OPAL Center for food and horticultural plant protection Region 1 Serang. In July to August 2023. This research method uses a completely randomized design (Completely Randomized design). The first factor of soaking time consists of three levels, namely: Soaking time 4 hours, 8 hours, and 12 hours. The second factor is that the type of cayenne pepper variety consists of 2 levels, namely: Var. Madun and Var. Genie. The observation parameters consisted of the speed of sprout growth, the number of sprout leaves, the synchronization of sprout growth, the percentage of sprout power, and the length of the roots. The results of the research show that the type of Var. Madun can influence cayenne pepper seeds with an expired date of 33 months. The Madun variety gave the best and highest influence on the parameters of observing the speed of sprout growth (11.99%), the number of leaves at 10 and 15 days after planting, namely the average number of leaves was 2 pieces, the synchronization of sprout growth (96.67), root length was 3.5 cm. Meanwhile, it did not have a real influence on the germination observation parameters. The immersion time for 25% shallot extract for 4, 8, 12 hours did not have a significant effect. Time immersion can invigorate Var. Madun with an expired date of 33 months. No interaction from to factors treatment in at parameter.

Additional Information: Benih cabai rawit mengalami masa tumbuh yang terbatas terutama fase perkecambahan. benih kadaluwarsa merupakan benih yang telah melampaui masa anjuran penanaman yang telah ditentukan oleh produsen benih. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah melakukan kajian pengaruh perendaman pada berbagai jenis varietas cabai rawit, lama perendaman, serta interaksi kedua perlakuan pada benih cabai rawit kedaluwarsa terhadap perkecambahan dan pertumbuhan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di OPAL BPTPHP Wilayah 1 Serang. Pada bulan bulan Juli 2023 s.d Agustus 2023. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL). Faktor pertama lama perendaman terdiri dari tiga taraf, yaitu: Lama perendaman 4 jam, Lama perendaman 8 jam , dan Lama perendaman 12 jam. Faktor kedua jenis varietas cabai rawit terdiri dari 2 taraf, yaitu: Cabai rawit (Var. Madun) dan Cabai rawit (Var. Genie). Parameter pengamatan terdiri dari kecepatan tumbuh kecambah, jumlah daun kecambah, keserempakkan tumbuh kecambah, presentase daya kecambah, dan panjang akar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengaruh jenis varietas cabai rawit (Var. Madun) dapat menginvigorasi benih cabai rawit (Capsicum frutescens L. Var. Madun) masa kadaluwarsa 33 bulan. Varietas madun memberikan pengaruh terbaik dan tertinggi terhadap parameter pengamatan kecepatan tumbuh kecambah (11,25%), jumlah daun 10 dan 15 HSS, yaitu rata-rata jumlah daun 2 helai, keserempakkan tumbuh kecambah (91,25), panjang akar 3,5 cm. Sedangkan, tidak memiliki pengaruh yang nyata terhadap parameter pengamatan presentase daya kecambah. Lama perendaman ekstrak bawang merah 25% selama 4, 8, 12 jam tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata. Lama perendaman dapat menginvigorasi benih cabai rawit (Capsicum frutescens L. Var. Madun) masa kadaluwarsa 33 bulan. Interaksi kedua faktor perlakuan lama perendaman dan jenis varietas cabai rawit, tidak berpengaruh nyata atau tidak ada interaksi.
