Abstract
This study aims to analyze the difficulties experienced by students in understanding one-dimensional motion graphs along with the factors causing these difficulties. The research utilizes a qualitative method with a qualitative descriptive research design. The study was conducted on 60 third-semester Physics Education students at Untirta by administering a written test consisting of 18 multiple-choice questions with closed-ended reasoning. Additionally, interviews were conducted with 10 students selected based on their test score categories. The research results indicate that students' graph comprehension abilities average less than 54%, falling into the category of very poor. Difficulties faced by students in understanding one-dimensional motion graphs include challenges in interpreting graphs depicting the relationship between position and time, as well as velocity and time. Students also encounter difficulties in providing graphical examples based on given textual descriptions and drawing conclusions from graphs depicting the relationship between position, velocity, acceleration, and time. The identified causative factors include both internal and external factors. Based on these findings, it is evident that many students still struggle with understanding one-dimensional motion graphs.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan yang dialami mahasiswa dalam memahami grafik gerak satu dimensi, serta faktor-faktor penyebab kesulitan pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan dirancang untuk menjadi penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan kepada 60 mahasiswa semester 3 Pendidikan Fisika Untirta dengan memberikan tes tertulis berupa pilihan ganda sebanyak 18 soal beserta alasan tertutup dan wawancara terhadap 10 mahasiswa yang dipilih berdasarkan kategori nilai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemahaman grafik mahasiswa rata rata kurang dari 54% yang berada pada kategori kurang sekali. Kesulitan yang dialami oleh mahasiswa dalam memahami grafik gerak satu dimensi antara lain mahasiswa kesulitan dalam menafsirkan grafik hubungan posisi terhadap waktu dan grafik hubungan kecepatan terhadap waktu, mahasiswa kesulitan dalam memberi contoh grafik berdasarkan deskripsi tekstual yang diberikan, mahasiswa kesulitan dalam menyimpulkan grafik hubungan posisi/kecepatan/percepatan terhadap waktu. Faktor penyebab ditemukan baik dari faktor internal maupun eksternal. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa masih terdapat banyak kesulitan pada mahasiswa dalam memahami grafik gerak satu dimensi. | |||||||||
