Abstract

Breaststroke swimming is swimming with the chest position facing the surface of the water, but different from freestyle, the torso is always in a fixed state, apart from that breaststroke swimming is also influenced by 80% of leg thrust and only 20% of arm movement, so it can be concluded that the main source of propulsion in breaststroke swimming is produced by the propulsion of the legs. Training methods that are not optimal cause students to experience a decline in quality in terms of swimming speed. The research aim is to determine the effect of weight training on the leg muscles on breaststroke swimming speed. This research technique uses quantitative experimental methods, using a one-group pretest-post-test design. The sample in this study consisted of 20 students. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out using field observations, literature reviews, and measurement tests. The test is carried out by swimming breaststroke as far as 25 meters as fast as possible. The magnitude of the influence of weight training on improving breaststroke swimming is 6% for men, while for women it is 6%, with a calculated t value = 24.581 > t table = 2.100. Based on these data, it can be concluded that weight training can increase breaststroke swimming speed.

Additional Information: Renang gaya dada adalah berenang dengan posisi dada menghadap ke permukaan air, namun berbeda dari gaya bebas, batang tubuh selalu dalam keadaan tetap, selain itu renang gaya dada juga dipengaruhi oleh 80% dorongan kaki dan hanya 20% dari gerakan lengan, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa sumber dorongan utama dalam renang gaya dada dihasilkan oleh dorongan kaki. Metode latihan yang belum maksimal membuat anak didik mengalami penurunan kualitas dalam segi kecepatan berenangnya. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh latihan weight training pada otot tungkai terhadap kecepatan renang gaya dada. Teknik penelitain ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif eksperimen, dengan menggunakan desain one-group pretest-post test design. Sampel pada penelitian ini berjumlah 20 anak didik. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Teknik Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan observasi lapangan, telaah pustaka, dan tes pengukuran. Pengujian dilakukan dengan cara berenang gaya dada sejauh 25 meter dengan waktu secepat-cepatnya. Besarnya pengaruh latihan weight training terhadap peningkatan renang gaya dada yaitu sebesar 6% untuk putra, sedangkan untuk putri yaitu sebesar 6%, dengan nilai t hitung = 24.581 > t tabel = 2,100. Berdasarkan data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa latihan weight training dapat meningkatkan kecepatan renang gaya dada.
