Abstract
This qualitative study delves into the perceptions of students regarding the use of WhatsApp as a medium for online learning in the 11th grade of SMK Negeri 4 Pandeglang. With the widespread use of mobile phones in education, particularly for innovative instruction, students and educators have embraced the opportunities presented by these devices. Mobile learning (m-learning) offers the flexibility for students to engage with educational material beyond traditional classroom settings, allowing learning to occur anytime and anywhere. WhatsApp, an increasingly popular instant messaging application, has gained prominence in educational contexts due to its interactive features, facilitating student-centered learning. This study aims to investigate how students perceive the use of WhatsApp as a medium for online learning and to explore the benefits and challenges associated with its implementation. The researcher employed a descriptive qualitative survey methodology, utilizing questionnaires and interviews as data collection techniques. The objectives of the research were to understand students' perceptions of WhatsApp applications for online learning and to identify the advantages and difficulties encountered. The findings reveal both advantages and disadvantages of using WhatsApp for learning purposes. While many students appreciate the flexibility offered by WhatsApp, some encounter challenges in understanding the material presented. Overall, this study sheds light on the multifaceted nature of implementing WhatsApp in educational settings, providing valuable insights for educators and researchers alike.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian kualitatif ini menggali persepsi siswa mengenai penggunaan WhatsApp sebagai media pembelajaran online di kelas XI SMK Negeri 4 Pandeglang. Dengan meluasnya penggunaan telepon seluler dalam pendidikan, khususnya untuk pengajaran inovatif, siswa dan pendidik telah memanfaatkan peluang yang diberikan oleh perangkat ini. Pembelajaran seluler (m-learning) menawarkan fleksibilitas bagi siswa untuk terlibat dengan materi pendidikan di luar ruang kelas tradisional, memungkinkan pembelajaran terjadi kapan saja dan di mana saja. WhatsApp, aplikasi perpesanan instan yang semakin populer, menjadi terkenal dalam konteks pendidikan karena fitur interaktifnya, yang memfasilitasi pembelajaran yang berpusat pada siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki bagaimana siswa memandang penggunaan WhatsApp sebagai media pembelajaran online dan untuk mengeksplorasi manfaat dan tantangan yang terkait dengan penerapannya. Peneliti menggunakan metodologi survei deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan kuesioner dan wawancara sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa terhadap aplikasi WhatsApp untuk pembelajaran daring serta mengetahui kelebihan dan kesulitan yang dihadapi. Temuan ini mengungkap keuntungan dan kerugian menggunakan WhatsApp untuk tujuan pembelajaran. Meskipun banyak siswa menghargai fleksibilitas yang ditawarkan oleh WhatsApp, beberapa siswa menghadapi tantangan dalam memahami materi yang disampaikan. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menyoroti sifat penerapan WhatsApp yang beragam di lingkungan pendidikan, sehingga memberikan wawasan berharga bagi pendidik dan peneliti. | |||||||||
