Abstract
Aluminium is widely used as an industrial material in the metal casting process. Aluminium is a type of metal that replaces steel in the automotive industry. The mechanical properties of aluminum are still relatively low so it is necessary to add elements such as copper (Cu) to improve mechanical properties. So that the aluminum and copper alloy stirs evenly and no contamination occurs, non-contact stirring is carried out using the Permanent Magnet Stirring (PMS) method. Apart from that, the use of Permanent Magnet Stirring (PMS) is able to destroy the dendrite structure and homogenize it. This research was carried out by carrying out an aluminum metal casting process with the addition of copper content of 1% wt, 3% wt, and 5% wt. After that, the Permanent Magnet Stirring (PMS) stirring frequency was varied at 10 Hz, 15 Hz, 20 Hz and the addition of copper at 1 wt%, 3 wt% and 5 wt%. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the best composition addition is an addition of 5% composition. The highest value obtained from the hardness test was 97.26 HB and the smallest grain size value obtained from the metallographic test results was 45.30 μm and good results were obtained with a stirring frequency of 20 Hz and the addition of 5% copper.

Additional Information: | Aluminium banyak digunakan sebagai bahan industri dalam proses pengecoran logam. Aluminium merupakan salah satu jenis logam pengganti baja dalam industri otomotif. Sifat mekanik aluminium masih tergolong rendah sehingga perlu ditambahkan unsur seperti tembaga (Cu) untuk meningkatkan sifat mekaniknya. Supaya paduan aluminium dan tembaga mengaduk dengan rata dan tidak terjadi kontaminasi maka dilakukan pengadukan non-contact dengan metode Permanent Magnet Stirring (PMS). Selain itu penggunaan Permanent Magnet Stirring (PMS) mampu menghancurkan struktur dendrit dan homogen. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan melakukan proses pengecoran logam aluminium dengan penambahan kadar tembaga sebesar 1% wt, 3% wt, dan 5% wt. Setelah itu dilakukan variasi frekuensi pengadukan Permanent Magnet Stirring (PMS) sebesar 10 Hz, 15 Hz, 20 Hz serta penambahan tembaga sebesar 1 wt%, 3 wt%, dan 5 wt%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan komposisi yang paling baik adalah penambahan komposisi sebesar 5%. Nilai tertinggi diperoleh uji kekerasan yaitu 97,26 HB dan nilai ukuran butir terkecil yang diperoleh dari hasil uji metalografi yaitu 45,30 μm dan hasil yang baik didapatkan dengan frekuensi pengadukan 20 Hz dan penambahan tembaga sebanyak 5%. | |||||||||
