Abstract

Science process skill is a skill that must be owned by someone to face the competition of the 21st century. This research is prompted by the limited proficiency in science process skills in Indonesia. Science process skills encompass cognitive, manual, and social abilities that enable students to independently develop their understanding and knowledge. One of the chemical topics that can enhance students' science process skills is the buffer solution material, owing to its procedural knowledge content. An effort to improve these skills inspired researchers to create the SSCS learning model. The objective of this study is to improve students' science process skills in the buffer solution material using the SSCS (Search, Solve, Create, and Share) learning model. The research design is a one-group pretest-posttest with purposive sampling. The sample consists of 34 students from the eleventh-grade science class at Tangerang Regency Public High School. Research instruments include lesson plans, worksheets, test questions, observation sheets, and student questionnaires. Data analysis involves descriptive analysis using n-gain and statistical analysis using the paired sample t-test. Based on the research results, there is an improvement in students' science process skills due to the application of the SSCS learning model. This improvement is indicated by an increase in the n-gain values, each achieving a moderate level, with n-gain values for each science process skill indicator as follows: observing (0.76), grouping (0.83), interpreting (0.58), predicting (0.50), asking questions (0.75), formulating hypotheses (0.67), applying concepts (0.57), and communicating (0.48). These results are supported by the paired sample t-test calculations, obtaining a significance value of 0.00, indicating a significant difference in students' science process skills before and after implementing the SSCS learning model (Search, Solve, Create, and Share) on the buffer solution material.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi rendahnya keterampilan proses sains di Indonesia. Keterampilan proses sains adalah keterampilan yang melibatkan keterampilan-keterampilan kognitif atau intelektual, manual dan sosial yang dapat mengembangkan pemahaman dan pengetahuan siswa secara mandiri. Salah satu materi kimia yang dapat meningkatkan Keterampilan proses sains siswa adalah materi larutan penyangga karena materi ini memiliki pengetahuan prosedural. Salah satu usaha untuk meningkatkan KPS mengilhami para peneliti untuk menciptakan model pembelajaran SSCS. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains siswa pada materi larutan penyangga dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran SSCS (Search, Solve, Create and Share). Desain penelitian ini adalah one grup pretest-posttest dengan Teknik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri Kabupaten Tangerang sebanyak 34 orang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan antara lain RPP, LKPD, soal tes, lembar observasi, dan angket respon siswa. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif menggunakan n-gain dan analisis statistik yang digunakan yaitu uji paired sample t-test. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat diketahui adanya peningkatan KPS siswa akibat penerapan model pembelajaran SSCS. Peningkatan ini dibuktikan dengan adanya peningkatan hasil nilai n-gain yang memperoleh kriteria sedang dengan nilai n-gain masing-masing indikator keterampilan proses sains yaitu, mengamati (0,76), mengelompokkan (0,83), menafsirkan (0,58), meramalkan (0,50), mengajukan pertanyaan (0,75), merumuskan hipotesis (0,67), menerapkan konsep (0,57) dan berkomunikasi (0,48). Hasil tersebut didukung dengan hasil perhitungan uji paired sample t-test yang memperoleh nilai siginifikansi 0,00 dan menunjukkan nilai signifikansi <0,05, sehingga H0 ditolak, artinya terdapat perbedaan keterampilan proses sains siswa sebelum dan sesudah diterapkan model pembelajaran SSCS Search, Solve, Create and Share) pada materi larutan penyangga.
