Abstract

This research aims to determine the profile of students' critical thinking abilities based on gender in biology learning at SMAN 2 Tangerang Regency. The population of this research is all XI MIPA students at SMAN 2 Tangerang Regency, with a sample of class XI MIPA 4 consisting of 38 students using purposive sampling techniques. The research method used is comparative quantitative. The data collected were the results of an assessment of critical thinking abilities which were measured using 10 multiple choice questions (PG) and an observation sheet consisting of 21 questions with indicators of Ennis' critical thinking abilities. Meanwhile, data in the form of factors that influence critical thinking skills were collected using a questionnaire containing 10 open questions. The factors that influence critical thinking skills are experience working on problem solving, selfmotivation, health, and gender. Next, interviews were conducted as supporting data. To test the comparative data on the average values of women and men, the Independent T-Test was used. The results of the research show that the critical thinking abilities of male and female students show a sig of 0.21, which means there is no difference in critical thinking abilities. The average critical thinking ability of male and female students is 74.6% and 77.3%, which is in the medium category.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa berdasarkan jenis kelamin pada pembelajaran biologi di SMAN 2 Kabupaten Tangerang. Populasi penelitian ini yaitu seluruh siswa XI MIPA di SMAN 2 Kabupaten Tangerang, dengan sampel kelas XI MIPA 4 yang terdiri dari 38 siswa dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif komparatif. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa hasil penilaian kemampuan berpikir kritis yang diukur menggunakan 10 soal pilihan ganda (PG) dan lembar observasi yang terdiri dari 21 pertanyaan dengan indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis Ennis. Sementara itu, data berupa faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan berpikir kritis dikumpulkan dengan angket yang berisi 10 pertanyaan terbuka dan hasil wawancara sebagai data pendukung. Adapun faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan berpikir kritis yaitu pengalaman mengerjakan soal pemecahan masalah, motivasi diri, dan metode pembelajaran. Uji komparatif data pada nilai rata-rata perempuan dan laki-laki digunakan Uji Independent T-Test. Hasil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa laki-laki dan perempuan menunjukkan sig 0,21 yang artinya tidak adanya perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa laki-laki dan perempuan sebesar 74,6% dan 77,3% termasuk dalam kategori sedang.
