Abstract

This research aims to determine the level of feasibility and students' responses to the PhET simulation as a learning medium for algebra material based on aspects of the feasibility of learning media according to Thorn. The subjects in this research were class VII students at SMP Negeri 7 Tangerang. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method, with data collection techniques through questionnaires and interviews which are then analyzed descriptively. Of the five aspects studied, the results obtained for the artistic and aesthetic aspects were 93%; interface design by 86%; ease of navigation by 85%; cognitive content of 87%; and learning scope of 90%; with the five aspects being in the very feasible category, namely more than 81%, with an average of 88%. The responses given by students during the learning process were also considered very positive so it can be concluded that the PhET simulation is very suitable to be used as a learning medium for algebra material.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kelayakan serta respon peserta didik terhadap simulasi PhET sebagai media pembelajaran pada materi aljabar berdasarkan aspek-aspek kelayakan media pembelajaran menurut Thorn. Subjek pada penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 7 Tangerang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah metode deskriptif kualitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui angket dan wawancara yang kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Dari kelima aspek yang diteliti, diperoleh hasil untuk aspek artistik dan estetika sebesar 93%; desain interface sebesar 86%; kemudahan navigasi sebesar 85%; kandungan kognisi sebesar 87%; dan lingkup pembelajaran sebesar 90%; dengan kelima aspek berada pada kategori sangat layak yakni lebih dari 81%, dengan rata-rata sebesar 88%. Respon yang diberikan peserta didik selama pembelajaran berlangsung juga dinilai sangat positif sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa simulasi PhET sangat layak untuk digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran pada materi aljabar.
