Abstract

The learning by doing approach is learning through direct action which is applied in training which contains elements of "learning by doing" to increase knowledge and experience. Hairstyling course participants are expected to be able to master skills in their field to prepare themselves to enter the world of work, therefore the hairstyling course is carried out using a learning by doing approach. The aim of this research is to find out how the application of the learning by doing approach is carried out in building the confident and communicative attitude of hair beauty course participants at the Prostyle Course and Training Institute (LKP) Bekasi City. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The results of this research show that (1) the learning by doing approach has been implemented well as evidenced by the reciprocal relationship between the participants and the instructor has been well established and also the course participants have been able to practice the material provided by the instructor (2) the confident attitude of the course participants Hairstyling that has been developed through the learning by doing approach has been well developed as evidenced by the course participants being able to know and trust their abilities and being able to make choices (3) The communicative attitude of the participants in the hairstyling course has been well developed as proven by the participants have been able to use good and polite language when communicating and have been able to build good interactions with other people.

Additional Information: Pendekatan learning by doing merupakan belajar melalui tindakan langsung yang diterapkan dalam pelatihan yang mengandung unsur “belajar sambil bekerja” untuk menambah pengetahuan dan pengalaman. Peserta kursus tata kecantikan rambut diharapkan mampu menguasai kemampuan dalam bidangnya untuk mempersiapkan diri memasuki dunia pekerjaan, maka dari itu kursus tata kecantikan rambut dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan learning by doing. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui bagaimana penerapan pendekatan learning by doing terlaksana dalam membangun sikap percaya diri dan komunikatif peserta kursus tata kecantikan rambut di Lembaga Kursus dan Pelatihan (LKP) Prostyle Kota Bekasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) pendekatan learning by doing sudah diterapkan dengan baik yang dibuktikan dengan hubungan timbal balik peserta dengan instruktur sudah terjalin dengan baik dan juga peserta kursus sudah mampu mempraktekkan materi yang sudah diberikan instruktur (2) sikap percaya diri peserta kursus tata kecantikan rambut yang terbangun melalui pendektakan learning by doing sudah terbangun dengan baik yang dibuktikan dengan peserta kursus sudah mampu mengetahui dan mempercaya kemampuan yang dimiliki serta sudah mampu menentukan pilihan (3) sikap komunikatif peserta kursus tata kecantikan rambut sudah terbangun dengan baik yang dibuktikan dengan peserta sudah mampu menggunakan bahasa yang baik dan santun saat berkomunikasi serta sudah mampu membangun interaksi yang baik dengan orang lain.
