Abstract

The problem in this research is that children's cognitive development is still not developing optimally. This is because there is no technology-based learning where learning media still uses conventional media, thus creating an atmosphere of learning activities that is very monotonous, boring and does not attract children's concentration. This research aims to determine the effect of wordwall-based educational games on the cognitive development of children aged 5-6 years. This research uses a quantitative experimental method, namely a quasi experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. Data collection techniques in this research used observation instruments and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using the SPSS Statistics 22 application using the paired sample test. The sample used in this research was 30 children aged 5-6 years, consisting of 15 children as the experimental group in the Rural State Kindergarten and 15 children as the control group in the Pembina District State Kindergarten, and each group received different treatment. The results of the research show that wordwall-based educational games have an effect on children's cognitive development. In the experimental group before receiving treatment (pretest), the average score was 35.53 and it became 39.73 after receiving treatment (posttest). The application of wordwall-based educational games as a learning aid has a good influence in developing the cognitive development of children aged 5-6 years.

Additional Information: Permasalahan pada penelitian ini yaitu perkembangan kognitif anak masih belum berkembang secara optimal. Hal ini disebabkan belum adanya pembelajaran berbasis teknologi yang mana media pembelajaran masih menggunakan media konvensional sehingga menciptakan suasana kegiatan belajar yang sangat monoton, membosankan, dan tidak menarik konsentrasi anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh game edukasi berbasis wordwall terhadap perkembangan kognitif anak usia 5-6 tahun. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif eksperimen yaitu quasi experiment dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen observasi, serta dokumentasi. Analisis data melalui bantuan aplikasi SPSS Statistics 22 dengan uji paired sample test. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu anak usia 5-6 tahun sebanyak 30 anak terdiri dari 15 anak sebagai kelompok eksperimen di TK Negeri Pedesaan dan 15 anak sebagai kelompok kontrol di TK Negeri Pembina Kecamatan, serta masing-masing kelompok mendapat perlakuan yang berbeda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa game edukasi berbasis wordwall berpengaruh terhadap perkembangan kognitif anak, pada kelompok eksperimen sebelum mendapat perlakuan (pretest) didapat nilai rata-rata sebesar 35,53 dan menjadi sebesar 39,73 setelah mendapat perlakuan (posttest). Penerapan game edukasi berbasis wordwall sebagai alat bantu pembelajaran memiliki pengaruh yang baik dalam mengembangkan kognitif anak usia 5-6 tahun.
