Abstract

Panimbang is a coastal area in Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province. The estuary area, especially the mangrove ecosystem, is very complex with biota that live at the bottom of the sediment, including macrozoobenthos. The important role provided by macrozoobenthos for the mangrove environment is to help mangrove plants obtain nutrients through the decomposition process of organic material. The important role of macrozoobenthos in mangrove areas is that this research was carried out to determine the relationship between the abundance of macrozoobenthos and mangrove density, water conditions and their relationship with sediment quality. This research was carried out in February 2022 in the mangrove area of Mekarsari Village and Citeureup Village, Panimbang District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province. Determining the research location was carried out using purposive sampling based on the representation of the condition of the mangrove ecosystem. Based on the results of observations at each station, eight macrozoobenthic species were found at station 1 and ten species at station 2, with the highest macrozoobenthos abundance value found at station 2 in the natural mangrove area. The most common macrozoobenthos found at station 1 was Cerithidea cingulata and station 2 were the species Cerithidea cingulata and Pharella acutidens. Meanwhile, the highest mangrove density value is at station 1 which is a rehabilitated mangrove. The types of mangroves found at station 1 were Avicennia alba and Rhizophora stylosa, at station 2 only Avicennia alba mangroves were found. The correlation value between the abundance of epifauna macrozoobenthos and mangrove density, BOT, sand, dust, soil pH, water pH, salinity and DO is negative or in the opposite direction, while with clay sediment and temperature it has a positive or in the same direction. The relationship between the abundance of epifauna macrozoobenthos and mangrove density, BOT, sand, dust, water pH and salinity is negative, while with clay, soil pH, temperature and DO is positive.

Additional Information: Panimbang merupakan wilayah pesisir yang berada di Kabupaten Pandeglang, Provinsi Banten. Wilayah pesisir sebagai wilayah peralihan antara daratan dan laut, ditempati oleh beragam ekosistem utama, salah-satunya ekosistem mangrove. Kawasan estuaria khususnya pada ekosistem mangrove sangat kompleks dengan kehidupan biota-biota yang hidup pada bagian dasar sedimen, di antaranya makrozoobentos. Peran penting yang diberikan oleh makrozoobentos untuk lingkungan mangrove adalah membantu tumbuhan mangrove mendapatkan nutrien dengan proses dekomposisi bahan organik. Pentingnya peran makrozoobentos di kawasan mangrove maka dilakukanlah penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kelimpahan makrozoobentos dengan kerapatan mangrove, kondisi perairan serta hubungannya dengan kualitas sedimen. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari 2022 di Kawasan mangrove Desa Mekarsari dan Desa Citeureup, Kecamatan Panimbang, Kabupaten Pandeglang, Provinsi Banten. Penentuan titik lokasi penelitian dilakukan secara purposivesampling berdasarkan keterwakilan kondisi ekosistem mangrove. Stasiun 1 berlokasi di Desa Mekarsari merupakan kawasan mangrove rehabilitasi, sedangkan stasiun 2 di Desa Citeureup yang merupakan kawasan mangrove alami. Parameter suhu, salinitas, pH air, pH tanah dan DO diukur langsung di lapangan. Penentuan jenis sedimen dilakukan di Laboratorium Produktivitas dan Lingkungan Perairan (Proling). Pengujian Bahan Organik Total (BOT) dilakukan di Laboratorium Get In�Cicero UGM. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan pada setiap stasiun, ditemukan 8 spesies makrozoobentos pada stasiun 1 dan 10 spesies di stasiun 2, dengan nilai kelimpahan makrozoobentos tertinggi terdapat pada stasiun 2 kawasan mangrove alami. Makrozoobentos yang paling banyak ditemukan pada stasiun 1 yaitu Cerithidea cingulata danstasiun 2 yaitu spesies Cerithidea cingulata dan Pharella acutidens. Sedangkan untuk nilai kerapatan mangrove tertinggi pada stasiun 1 yang merupakan mangrove rehabilitasi. Jenis mangrove yang ditemukan pada stasiun 1 yaitu Avicennia alba dan Rhizophora stylosa, pada stasiun 2 hanya mangrove jenis Avicennia alba yang ditemukan. Nilai korelasi antara kelimpahan makrozoobentos epifauna dengan kerapatan mangrove, BOT, pasir, debu, pH tanah, pH air, salinitas dan DO bernilai negatif atau berlawanan, sedangkan dengan sedimen liat dan suhu memiliki korelasi positif atau searah. Hubungan antara kelimpahan makrozoobentos epifauna dengan kerapatan mangrove, BOT, pasir, debu, pH air dan salinitas bernilai negatif, sedangkan dengan liat, pH tanah, suhu dan DO bernilai positif.
