Abstract
The development of technology in Indonesia, especially in mass media, has significantly changed people's lifestyle. Film, as a subcategory of mass media, is an important platform that reflects and shapes socio-cultural understanding, especially gender roles. This research examines gender representation in the film Enola Holmes 2 with a focus on the role of women. In the contemporary era, films have a major impact in shaping people's views on gender issues. The complex phenomenon of gender representation, especially in film, portrays challenges related to stereotypes and inequality. The film Enola Holmes 2 is the focus of the research, with problem identification on the representation of women and semiotic analysis. In this film, the character of Enola Holmes, as a female detective agency, reflects the spirit of feminism and independence. Peirce's semiotic analysis and Stuart Hall's representation theory are used to explore the meaning of the film's symbols and narratives. The results highlight the role of film as an agent of social change and the way films can stimulate changes in society's views on gender issues. This research makes theoretical and practical contributions to communication science, offering an in-depth perspective on the representation of women in film as well as explaining the role of film as a medium of social change.

| Additional Information: | Perkembangan teknologi di Indonesia, khususnya di media massa, mengubah pola hidup masyarakat secara signifikan. Film, sebagai subkategori media massa, menjadi wadah penting yang mencerminkan dan membentuk pemahaman sosial budaya, terutama peran gender. Penelitian ini mengkaji representasi gender dalam film Enola Holmes 2 dengan fokus pada peran perempuan. Di era kontemporer, film memiliki dampak besar dalam membentuk pandangan masyarakat terhadap isu-isu gender. Fenomena kompleksitas representasi gender, terutama dalam film, memotret tantangan terkait stereotip dan ketidaksetaraan. Film Enola Holmes 2 menjadi fokus penelitian, dengan identifikasi masalah pada representasi perempuan dan analisis semiotik. Dalam film ini, karakter Enola Holmes, sebagai agen detektif perempuan, mencerminkan semangat feminisme dan kemandirian. Analisis semiotika Peirce dan teori representasi Stuart Hall digunakan untuk menggali makna simbol dan narasi film. Hasilnya menyoroti peran film sebagai agen perubahan sosial dan cara film dapat merangsang perubahan pandangan masyarakat terhadap isu-isu gender. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi teoritis dan praktis dalam ilmu komunikasi, menawarkan perspektif mendalam tentang representasi perempuan dalam film serta menjelaskan peran film sebagai medium perubahan sosial. | |||||||||
